"WHAAA—!?"
There were no girls. No fluffy-haired roommates. No matching pajamas. No instant besties. Just boys. Boys. BOYS. Everywhere. Some were seated. Some were standing. Some were already halfway through dinner. Others stared at me like I was a unicorn that just wandered in...
I quickly recognized the other boys from earlier: Minho, who looked annoyed just by breathing the same air; Twan, who grinning like it was a reflex; Travis, who didn't even look up; and now James, smiling like nothing creepy happened just hours ago. I mean, not that I'm complaining... but come on. They're boys! There's no way I'm the only girl in this dorm, right? Maybe the other girls are just off doing after-school stuff. Yeah. That must be it.
"Oh..." Minho said, very unenthusiastically.
"Oh! It's Elise!" Twan exclaimed. "Oh yeah! Elise will live with us here!"
"Uhh, yeah..." I said, trying not to look as shocked as I felt.
"How wonderful! Now that you're living here, I can hold you anytime I want." Crap. It's James. Why is this man like this?
"Well, Elise," Nana smiled, "why don't you introduce yourself?"
I gave a small nod and said, "My name is Elise Jung and, uh... I'll be living here from now on. Nice to meet you." Then I flashed the most awkward smile in history.
"Everyone, please be nice to her," Nana added.
I swear I heard Minho scoff under his breath.
"It might be a little tough for her, because you know, Elise is... our first girl to ever live here!"
Huh?
"WHAT!?" I-I'm the first girl? I stared at him, horrified. Then that means... "So there's no other-".
"Nope! This school just turned co-ed this year, sweetie. You're actually the first girl resident in Heiran Dorm." Nana said.
"Until last year, this was an all boys school" Ryan added.
This is literally the plot of every reverse harem anime ever.
"You're the only girl at our school" Ryan finished his sentence.
I can't believe it. My brain froze. No one told me. No one warned me. How did no one tell me? All my dreams of pajama parties, no lipstick-sharing besties....Nothing. Now what am I gonna do?
"What's wrong, Elise? You seem disappointed," Twan asked. Poor guy probably noticed my face.
"No, it's just... I'm a little confused."
"What's there to be confused about? You knew this was an all-boys school," Travis said, arms crossed.
"No! I really didn't!"
"Oh yeah? Well you sure were working fast in the nurse's office," Travis added smugly.
Excuse me!? The audacity of this guy. I swear.
"Sorry guys... what can I say?" James smirked. "I guess we're a couple now."
"I don't think so!" I snapped back.
"Hey!" Finally, Minho said something. His eyes locked onto mine.
"I've seen you somewhere before... haven't I?" he asked. "Where did we meet?"
Wait. He remembers?
"Probably in front of the school this morning," Twan chimed in.
"No, I'm not talking about that. It was earlier..."
He leaned in, inspecting my face. My heart started to pound. Was it yesterday? The party? Could he remember that moment?
"Oh I know!" Minho exclaimed.
He does!?
"You were-"
But before he could finish—
PITCH BLACK.
"Yikes, power outage."
"Again!?"
"Someone go hit the breaker!"
"You do that. I'm going to..."
"Ow! Who stepped on my foot!?"
It was chaos. I couldn't see a thing. Then something... touched me?
"AHHH!" I screamed, just as the lights turned back on. Standing the closest to me... was Minho.
I shoved him.
"What the hell was that for!?" he yelled.
"Because you felt me up!" I replied.
"What!? Don't be stupid! There's no way I—"
"No. You were definitely copping a feel," Ryan said casually
"Yeah, everyone saw," James added.
"Minho, you dog!" Twan teased.
"Liars! Well, okay, maybe I did a little, but! It's not like they're very big or anything—"
"What did you say!?" Oh right, Nana is still here.
BASH!
"Oww!"
"You jerk! Don't act like that with a girl! It's rude!" Nana shouted, swinging whatever was nearest.
Yeah! Super rude. Even if they are a little small...
"Anyway, Elise," Ryan said coolly, "you better stay away from that idiot and come over here."
"You freakin'—!"
BASH!
Nana hits Minho before he can finish what he was saying.
"Alright guys, let's eat!" Nana declared.
After dinner, I decided to head upstairs. Nana said he'd handle the dishes, and I had absolutely nothing better to do. I closed my room door and took a moment to admire the space. It was nice. Like, really nice.
Big window (roof access—yay!). Bed facing the window. Decent-sized closet. Desk with a lamp. A whole private bathroom. And best of all? Carpeted floors.
I flopped onto my bed. Too early to sleep, but I needed answers. I pulled out my phone and called my mama.
However...
("Oh my! Isn't that great? To be with all those boys?")
"It's not great at all. Do you know I'm the only girl in this entire school?" Seriously? I thought her reaction would be the opposite.
("Don't worry, girls will transfer there sooner or later")
"Enrollments are done mama. Besides, why enroll me here out of all the school's there is in this country, mama" I rolled my eyes.
("Well I thought there would be girls there since my friend Saeji told me it's not all-boys anymore!")
"Saeji? As in... Saejima?"
("Yes, darling.")
"You guys know each other?!"
("Very.")
I sighed. "You know what? I'll just sleep. A lot happened today."
("Alright, darling. Sleep well. I love you.")
"I love you too, Mama. Bye."
I hung up. Changed into my 'pajamas'—aka just a shirt and panties. Don't judge. It's comfy.
By 10:00pm, I was trying to sleep, but nope. It's already 10:00pm and I can't even sleep. Somebody next door was absolutely shredding on an electric guitar. Who does that at 10PM?
Then I heard a knock on my door, I went up to open it and saw Nana smiling.
"Hi, Elise! Just checking if you're asleep."
"I can't. It's kinda noisy isn't it..."
"Ugh, Minho!" Nana shouted across the hallway.
The noise stopped and the door next to mine opened.
"What?" Minho asked, visibly annoyed.
"Can you stop all that racket? Elise here can't sleep."
He looked at me.
"Seriously?" Then he just closed the door.
"Well, that should do it. Good night, Elise~"
"Good night, Nana."
Nana left my room then closed the door behind him as I went back to my bed. I turned off the lights, leaving only my desk lamp on.
Finally, peace.
Finally, silence.
...
Or so I thought.
Because Minho started playing again. Twice as loud.
"MINHOOOO!" I screamed into my pillow.
