[A/N: Back to Mo Yi's POV]
My eyes twitched as the sunlight creeped on my skin.
I woke up the silence of the room broken only by a steady, deep heartbeat above my head. The terrifying chaos of yesterday felt like a distant nightmare.
My head was splitting with aches but one thing was sure, I was safe and warm.
And it was all thanks to Yichen.
I was nestled securely in his arms. And for the first time, I didn't pull away, instead I stayed exactly where I was.
I lifted my head and carefully studied the hard planes of his chest and jaw. I raised my hand and softly traced the curve of his shoulder. Even in his sleep, he looked overwhelmingly powerful.
How did he know I was in danger last night?
I was pushed to question that but I didn't want anything to remind me of yesterday. If I didn't kick that stick at the gun, everything would have been a bloody mess.
And I would have been next.
