"Wonderful," Seraphine said. "Then while we wait, why don't you show me around, Satou? Give me the grand tour. Let me see what you've built here. And your lovely companions can come along, of course. I'm sure they'll want to ensure I don't corrupt their demon lord."
The last sentence was delivered with sultry amusement, as if she found their protective instincts entertaining.
Satou stood. "Very well. The tour will give you a good overview of our settlement structure and philosophy."
"Oh, I'm sure it will give me an overview of many things," Seraphine replied, her mismatched eyes gleaming with predatory interest.
They exited the receiving chamber, and Satou could already tell this was going to be the longest three days of his life.
Leading Seraphine through the settlement was an exercise in controlled tension.
