After Ava left, both Jax and Celestine were alone in his mansion.
And it was awkward. The kind of awkward where neither person knows where to look, what to say, or how to address the elephant in the room that was still dripping from the carriage ride.
Jax broke the silence first. "Seems like Jennifer has taken a liking to Ava."
Celestine sat on a chair with her legs crossed. Her cold demeanor intact despite the blush she had been fighting for the past hour. "I don't know. Maybe she's using Ava and that poor idiot is trailing behind her like a dog."
Jax sat on the edge of the bed. "I don't think so. Jennifer sure has a business mind and she only seeks profit. But I know her better than that. She's someone who treats her people with genuine care and respect. She has the kind of mindset that makes her grow along with everyone around her."
He paused. "And trust me, the people around her are crazy for her. They would die for her without a second thought."
