Jax watched from the cliff edge, unable to look away.
Lyra grabbed the commander's torn uniform and yanked.
The fabric ripped clean off.
But then, almost instantly, the clothes shimmered and reformed. Back to perfect condition, like nothing had happened.
Lyra stepped back, staring at the uniform. Her face twisted in annoyance.
"Tssk. This is a stupid game. At least let the players have the freedom."
She turned to her beast. The massive humanoid nodded once.
Then it slammed the commander into the ground.

Jax's eyes narrowed. 'Something's off. Her movements. Her stance. That's not an old woman pretending. That's a veteran. A pro.'
Lyra rolled her shoulders, stretching like someone testing a new body. Her face was serious, focused. No trace of the sweet, gentle grandmother from before.
Beside her stood three beasts.
Jax opened his interface quickly, scanning them.
