Jay sat on the edge of the bed, her bandaged hand resting on her lap as the head medic finished her final check.

"You are discharged," the medic announced. "But you need monitoring. No stress. No fights. No running. No sneaking out."

Jay blinked innocently.

Behind her, Keifer scoffed. "Doc, she doesn't know the meaning of any of those words."

Jay elbowed him lightly; he winced dramatically, and she rolled her eyes.

They walked out of the infirmary together. A crowd waited—Aries, Percy, Angelo, Rafael, Lia, Jashfer, Jeana, Gemma, Grandma Maya, even Keiren and Keigan. Behind them stood Sec-E and ACES, all silent.

But Keifer stayed a half-step behind Jay, his palm hovering near her back, his posture stiff, protective—like he'd snap the neck of anyone who breathed wrong near her.

Everyone exhaled only after seeing her.

Angelo stepped forward next, eyes sharp. "Tell us everything."

Jay took a breath. The room stilled. Everyone leaned in.

"Yuri came to me a week ago… told me Kaizer was planning something big. Too big. But Kaizer wasn't telling him the details. Cyrus was reaching out to other gangs—Keifer's enemies—boys who would love a chance to break him."

Everyone froze. The temperature dropped.

Jay continued, "I didn't trust Yuri at first. Obviously. But… he looked scared. Really scared. And he told me, 'Believe me this one time.'" She clenched her jaw. "I didn't have time to call Keifer. Cyrus and his men were already moving. Samuel and others thought I could handle it."

Keifer scoffed. "Handle it? Handle dying?"

Jay threw a pillow at him without breaking eye contact. "Shut up."

He caught the pillow with a smirk, like he'd been waiting for it.

Jay went on, "When I reached the warehouse, I realized Kaizer ordered that syringe again—the illegal drug. So I texted MK. He sent me an antidote immediately. After the explosion… Yuri used it."

She paused, breathing shakily."I thought Yuri could earn Kaizer's trust if he 'defeated' me. I let myself lose. That would buy us time to retrieve Yuri's mother and sister."

Michael whispered, "The plan… was solid. But Kaizer—"

"—brought that monster," Jay finished, her voice trembling with disgust. "I didn't expect that. And then—"

Her voice shook involuntarily."—Keifer reached there. A five-hour distance. In two hours."

Everyone turned to Keifer.

He only smirked deeply, tilting his head. "I had motivation."

Jay threw another pillow. "SHUT. UP."

His smirk widened.

"MK?" Calix asked.

Jay just nodded.

she continued, "Yuri injected it. That's the only reason I'm alive."

Silence spread.

Aries whispered, voice breaking, "Then why didn't he bring you back to us?"

She lowered her eyes. "He said Kaizer and my stepfather had eyes everywhere. If they discovered I was alive… they'd finish what they planned."

Percy clenched his fists. "I still don't trust him."

Jay sighed. "I know. But believe me—he saved my life."

Keifer finally spoke, voice low, rough, "I'm still going to beat the hell out of him later."

Jay smacked his arm. "Violence is not the answer."

"It's my answer," he muttered.

Everyone snorted.

he cars rolled through the underground tunnel of the ACES' private base—quiet, heavily guarded, smelling like antiseptic and steel. Doctors were standing in rows, waiting. The moment Jay's wheelchair rolled out, chaos exploded—monitors, IV lines, nurses checking vitals, a full trauma team escorting her and Keifer inside like they were handling royalty and explosives at the same time.

Jay groaned, rubbing her temples. "Guys, I'm not dying anymore. Chill."

Keifer, still pale and stitched up, muttered, "You WERE "She glared at him.He glared back.Everyone around them pretended not to exist.

Angelo yawned loudly. "Both of you—rest. NOW."

"Jay, your room," Rafael ordered. "Keifer, any guest room."

Jay nodded.

Keifer… did not.

The moment Jay reached her door, Aries and Percy planted themselves in front of it like literal bouncers.

Keifer stopped. Blinking slowly.

"…Move."

Percy glared. "No."

Aries crossed his arms. "You think we'll let you sleep in her room when YOU barely healed?! Over my dead—"

Aries crossed his arms. "Try me."

Percy glared. "Over my dead body."

Keifer sighed slowly, like he was about to commit murder.

cin turned the corner, sipping juice. "What's happening?"

"cin" Keifer said in his bossy way , "do me a favor and remove these two clowns."

cin blinked. "Easy."

He turned to Aries. "Ella is calling you. She said it's… urgent."

Aries froze.

Ella never called unless something was life-or-death.

He bolted.

Then cin turned to Percy. "Uh… Felix called you dumb."

Percy's eyes widened. "HE CALLED WHAT—?!"

He sprinted down the hallway like a missile.

cin winked at Keifer and walked off.

Keifer smirked.

He twisted the doorknob—

—and froze.

Jay stood in the room…

…in a towel.

She screamed. He choked. They both flung pillows at each other in pure panic.

Jay sprinted into her walk-in closet, slamming the door. "DON'T YOU DARE SAY A WORD!"

He stood there, face red, ears red, even his injuries looked redder.

Jay stepped out in comfortable shorts and an oversized tee. She glared.

What happened, asshole?"

Keifer, face still flushed, muttered a curse, rubbing his forehead. "You just said four profanities. Five, including this one."

"Shut—"

Before she could finish, he cupped her face and kissed her.

Then kissed her again.A long one. Then another, slow and deep. Then another, softer.

Jay ended up on his lap without even realizing it, sitting sideways against his chest.

When she finally breathlessly asked, "What's wrong with your face? You look weird."

He buried his face in her shoulder. "My head is itching. A lot."

Jay blinked. "Then wash your hair, pabo."

He looked up at her with the most dramatic pout she had ever seen.

"I can't wash it. If my stitches get wet… they'll open."

Jay froze, guilt hitting her instantly.

His pout deepened. He leaned closer, voice soft, coaxing—

"Jay… can you wash my hair for me?"

She frowned. He pouted again.A dangerously cute pout.

Jay groaned. "FINE! Stop sulking, you big injured baby!"

Jay softened, but he exaggerated the pout even more.

"…plsss?"

She punched his shoulder lightly. "Fine."

He lit up like a literal child.

Keifer immediately brightened like she'd given him the world.

He grabbed her hand.

She dragged him into the bathroom

The warm steam fogged the mirror. Jay rolled her sleeves, turned on the shower slightly—not too much, just to wet his hair.

Keifer sat on the small stool, bandages around his torso, chest rising and falling slowly.

Jay ran her fingers through his hair gently, avoiding bruises. Keifer closed his eyes, leaning into her touch like it was the first moment of peace since the explosion.

"You're really something," she whispered.

He smirked weakly. "I know."

She flicked water at him.

He laughed—quiet, soft, aching.

When she massaged shampoo into his hair, he murmured, "Jay… promise me something."

She stilled. "…What?"

"Don't leave again. Ever."

Her chest tightened painfully. "I didn't leave. I was taken."

"I don't care," he whispered. "I just… can't do that again."

Jay cupped his face gently. "I'm here. I'm right here."

He swallowed, eyes glistening.

She wiped water from his forehead. "Now shut up and let me wash you before you whine."

He chuckled.

Jay rinsed his hair carefully, dried it with a towel, wrapped him in a warm robe, and led him out.
