Chapter 33 My Dream—Unify the Ninja World

On a rooftop some distance away from the conference room.

Terumi Mei stood at the edge, gazing toward the conference room as she spoke calmly.

"How is the situation inside?"

"Although Utakata's emotions are somewhat unstable, his chakra is calm. There should be no risk of him transforming into a tailed beast."

Ao widened his Byakugan to observe the direction of the conference room. After a while, he replied respectfully.

Terumi Mei nodded. What she had said earlier was not a lie, though there was something she had left unsaid.

If Utakata, after seeing that scroll, still thought about escaping from Kirigakure, then there was only one outcome—replace him with another Six-Tails jinchuriki.

And for a jinchuriki who lost his tailed beast, the result was, of course, death.

If this had been in the past, not to mention carrying it out, even thinking of such a thing would have been unthinkable. Matters involving tailed beasts would always cost countless lives.

But with Lord Yuto here now, even if both Saiken and the Three-Tails Isobu had problems at the same time, they would not be able to stir up much trouble in his hands.

"Canceling the isolation of the Six-Tails jinchuriki, letting him move freely in the village—won't that be dangerous?"

Chojuro spoke quietly, his face full of concern.

"There may be danger. But surely Lord Yuto and the Mizukage have already prepared countermeasures."

Ao pulled the black eyepatch back over his Byakugan, then turned to Chojuro with a faint smile.

Terumi Mei continued to look toward the conference room, her gaze deep, though she remained silent.

After a while, she stretched lazily, her graceful curves instantly entering the eyes of Chojuro and Ao.

Chojuro, already shy by nature, flushed red at the sight, quickly turning his head aside in embarrassment.

Ao lowered his head slightly and muttered under his breath. "Speaking of which, Mizukage-sama should also consider marriage…"

Whoosh!

A cool breeze swept past.

Ao's back suddenly went cold, as if murderous intent had enveloped him. His face twisted bitterly, and he couldn't help but wish he could slap himself for speaking out of turn.

Terumi Mei smiled, her eyes narrowing as she chuckled softly. "Careful, or someone might die."

"M-Mizukage-sama, Lord Yuto should be… waiting for us in the office now. We shouldn't keep him waiting."

Forcing himself, Ao stammered hastily.

Terumi Mei's clenched fist paused. She patted Ao's shoulder heavily a few times, then spoke faintly. "Let's go."

———

Mizukage's Office.

Yuto was sprawled lazily on the sofa, his face full of weariness.

Talking with Elder Genji was far too mentally draining. If there was a next time—no, there would never be a next time!

Click.

With a soft sound, the office door opened. Terumi Mei stepped inside slowly.

"Here so soon? It seems things with Utakata went smoothly."

Seeing her enter, Yuto's eyes lit up as he chuckled.

"As expected of Lord Yuto, it went almost exactly as you predicted."

Terumi Mei nodded, her tone carrying a trace of joy.

"The matter of the Six-Tails jinchuriki is resolved. Elder Genji's issue has also been settled. Now, the whole of Kirigakure is truly united as one."

Yuto looked at her and smiled faintly.

The transfer of power was always the most dangerous moment. More than anyone, Terumi Mei understood that without Lord Yuto's presence, this morning's meeting would never have gone so smoothly.

I will do my best to be a good Mizukage! Terumi Mei silently vowed in her heart.

"Since there's a little free time now, get some proper rest. In a few days, things will get busy again."

Yuto leaned back on the sofa, his head resting on his arm, speaking lazily.

Terumi Mei froze for a moment, a glint flashing in her eyes. Just as she was about to ask, Yuto's voice sounded again.

"Before discussing those matters, there is something far more important."

He rose from the sofa, his sharp gaze fixed on her.

Sensing the seriousness in his expression, Terumi Mei also grew solemn, waiting for his next words.

"If I don't find a place to stay before sunset, I'll be sleeping on the streets tonight."

Yuto looked at her with utmost seriousness.

Terumi Mei's expression turned blank with confusion. "Ah?!"

On a street in Kirigakure.

The two of them walked out of a house with helpless looks.

"For someone holding such a dignified position as elder, you really have no money?"

Yuto seemed unwilling to give up, asking her again.

"The role of elder is different from other posts. It isn't responsible to anyone, and belongs to a separate system."

Terumi Mei replied softly, then continued.

"But don't worry, Lord Yuto. I'll cover the matter of money."

Hearing this, Yuto sighed deeply. He had thought that, as Mizukage, Terumi Mei would be something of a rich woman.

Yet it turned out she only had some funds, still far from being wealthy.

The house they had just inquired about was already the seventh. Each was either too expensive, or only available for rent.

As a proper elder, Terumi Mei naturally would not let Yuto live in a rental.

Of course, elders did have benefits—a property was included. But his designated house was currently occupied by Elder Genji. Yuto neither intended to live with that old fox, nor could he drive him out.

As for a new property, even if construction began now, it would take at least half a year.

"Well… if Lord Yuto doesn't mind, you could stay at my place for now. My house is large, with spare rooms."

Walking along the street, Terumi Mei suddenly spoke softly.

Hearing this, Yuto blinked.

A man and a woman, alone under one roof.

That didn't sound good.

Moreover, he strongly suspected she just wanted to save money!

Yuto's face showed hesitation. After a moment, he sighed. "Fine. But my room has to be the biggest."

With the housing issue resolved, both of them relaxed.

As they walked, passing villagers bowed respectfully to Terumi Mei without approaching to disturb her.

She, in turn, greeted them kindly with a nod.

"Terumi Mei, what is your dream?"

Watching the scene on the street, Yuto asked curiously.

"My dream? I want to be someone like Lord Yuto, someone who can protect the village and be respected by the world. And Lord Yuto, what is your dream?"

She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, looking back with curiosity.

"To unify the ninja world," Yuto replied lightly.
