Morning sunlight spilled across the apartment like warm silk, gentle and unhurried. The world was peaceful. Too peaceful.
Seo Jin stretched on the couch, finishing the last chapter of a book while Li Ran sat nearby, lazily scrolling on his phone. Their legs touched lightly. The air was warm, filled with the quiet comfort of shared space. Nothing noisy, nothing chaotic—just them existing together.
And then—
The doorbell rang.
Not once.
But three sharp, precise chimes.
Li Ran and Seo Jin looked at each other.
"You expecting someone?" Seo Jin asked.
"No," Li Ran answered flatly. "You?"
Seo Jin shook his head.
A faint prickle of unease crawled up his spine. Visitors were rare. And unannounced ones—almost nonexistent.
Li Ran stood, rolling his shoulders before crossing the room. His steps were calm, but there was a tension in his posture that Seo Jin recognized immediately.
