"It really does seem to be the Levitate ability."
"Who would've thought that right after evolving, Vibrava would change its ability from Arena Trap to Levitate—and that it would already be this strong."
"Maybe it's related to the incredible natural Flying-type talent it possesses. After fully awakening its power of flight, that ability must have been further enhanced."
"With the blessing of that Flying-type talent, Vibrava's Levitate ability has become even more powerful."
Feeling his body so light, Ethan couldn't help the gleam that appeared in his eyes. Perhaps he could make use of Vibrava's innate Flying-type talent to further develop its Levitate ability.
In fact, from a certain point of view, controlling wind and floating had a lot in common.
"Maybe I can draw inspiration from Shiki the Golden Lion's Float-Float Fruit."
"The Float-Float Fruit, in a way, shares many similarities with the Levitate ability."
Ethan's eyes lit up—he had found an excellent direction to develop this ability. Especially in a sandstorm, if he managed to control Levitate precisely, couldn't he perhaps create an effect similar to an upward tornado?
The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became that the Levitate ability deserved to be explored. Especially since Vibrava possessed such extraordinary talent for the Flying type.
"From now on, I can include Flying-type move training in Vibrava's regimen."
"That way, it'll strengthen its wind control, and at the same time, I'll be able to refine its Levitate ability."
Ethan began mentally designing Vibrava's training plan. However, the number of Flying-type moves it could currently learn wasn't very large. Besides the Egg Move Gust, he recalled that it could also master Roost, Fly, and Tailwind.
Though there were few, those three moves were all quite useful:
Roost: a recovery-type move; by perching and resting, it could restore a significant portion of its stamina.
Tailwind: increases the speed of the entire team; extremely powerful in group battles.
Fly: a type of aerial mobility move—and, according to Ethan, the most important of the three.
In essence, Fly was a form of wind control. It involved numerous lift and maneuvering techniques, vital for strengthening both mastery over wind and the Levitate ability.
"The Flying-type talent deserves to be developed, but I can't neglect Vibrava's Ground and Dragon attributes. They're just as fundamental."
"If it focuses only on Flying-type moves and abandons its Ground and Dragon sides, that would be a mistake."
"Also, Vibrava can generate ultrasonic waves by flapping its wings—and ultrasonic waves are a very special form of power. In fact, Vibrava can learn quite a few sound-based moves."
"That's an ability unique to its current form. Once it evolves into Flygon, it won't be easy to train its use of sound waves."
"Especially Boomburst, a devastatingly powerful move, the one with the highest base power among moves with no side effects. It can only be mastered during the Vibrava stage."
Ethan reviewed all the information about Vibrava and realized it had enormous potential. His task now was to design balanced training that would awaken each part of that potential step by step.
If, during its Trapinch stage, it had developed its Ground-type abilities, and now as Vibrava it could master sound waves, then once it evolved into Flygon, it could integrate all those talents into one perfect form. Its power would be so overwhelming that it could rival—or even surpass—pseudo-legendary Pokémon.
"It seems that, during this stage, I need to focus on developing its sound-based moves."
"But I also can't abandon its Flying-type moves and Levitate ability; those will be key for Flygon to become a true powerhouse in the future."
Ethan scratched his head, a little frustrated. "Having so many things to train is a problem too..."
At that moment, a tired Vibrava gently set him down on the ground and began panting.
Seeing this, Ethan quickly handed him some nutritious juice to recover, then took the opportunity to open the manual he had exchanged for—the Flygon Training Method.
As he expected, the book meticulously detailed the training process for the Vibrava stage, but most of its contents focused on developing the Dragon type, with a few exercises for the Ground attribute. As for Flying-type or sound-based moves, the manual didn't mention a single word.
"Could it be that the Foster family withheld some information... or that my understanding of Flygon as a traveler from another world surpasses theirs?"
Ethan pondered for a moment, but he had to admit: with the Foster family's methods, a Flygon raised by them would have exceptional mastery over Dragon-type energy.
After all, they were a family specialized in Dragon-type Pokémon, so it was only natural that their focus lay there.
On the other hand, his own method came from Professor Harris, an expert in the Ground type, meaning his Flygon would be optimized for that type of energy.
It was clear—Ethan had a far more comprehensive understanding of Flygon than the people of this world. And that, precisely, was his greatest advantage as a traveler between worlds.
"I can combine both methods—the Foster family's and Professor Harris's—to raise a Flygon balanced between the Ground and Dragon types."
"And the development of the other three aspects—Flight, Levitate, and Sound—I'll leave to my own research."
"If I can fully develop all five of Flygon's talents, its power will be truly immense."
With that firm resolve in his heart, Ethan also knew he couldn't train all five areas at once. So, after careful thought, he decided to start by developing its sound-based moves, since they were exclusive to the Vibrava stage and would be lost upon evolution.
The other four—Ground, Dragon, Flight, and Levitate—could continue developing later, and they'd be much easier to perfect once it reached its final form.
