Chapter 111: I'm Not Joking

Hiss...

As the red-clad young lady stood frozen within the block of ice, everyone in the hall gasped in shock. Their stunned gazes soon turned toward the calm-faced elder standing near the counter.

"Honored guests, please restrain yourselves!"

A middle-aged man hurriedly stepped forward from a corner of the hall, arriving before the frozen young lady and bowing deeply in a submissive manner.

Hai Bodong simply glanced sideways at the man, his cold eyes devoid of emotion—filled only with a chilling intensity.

"Honored guests, Lady Linglin was overly impulsive earlier. Please, for the sake of the Mo Clan, let this matter pass."

The moment the middle-aged man met Hai Bodong's gaze, he felt his body go cold. Already drenched in sweat, the moisture on his back nearly froze into ice crystals.

"The Mo Clan? And you think a mere Dou Shi like you can represent them? That little miss—she's not a nobody in your clan, is she? I'd say she does represent the Mo Clan. And I don't like the attitude your clan just showed."

Hai Bodong's voice was mild, but his words were ruthlessly unreasonable.

Still, in the world of Dou Qi, strength was truth!

And honestly, his logic wasn't wrong.

With that, several sharp onlookers began to catch on.

These three weren't here for fun—they came to cause trouble for the Mo Clan!

Immediately, many in the hall settled in with glee, waiting to see what drama would unfold.

"Elder sir, this is Yancheng! Our Mo Clan—"

The middle-aged man's face darkened, realizing Hai Bodong's implication. He tried to protest.

Snort!

Xiao Yuan chuckled beside him.

Ordinary powerhouses might feel threatened by the Mo Clan's connection to Misty Cloud Sect.

But not Hai Bodong.

At his level, he wouldn't care one bit about a petty Mo Clan steward.

"Tsk, Elder Hai, looks like fewer and fewer people remember who you are these days."

Xiao Yuan fanned the flames from the side, clearly enjoying the scene.

"Hmph. I wasn't planning to show off, but it seems folks nowadays are weak in strength and strong in bluster."

Hai Bodong snorted coldly, then casually waved his hand.

Frost spread rapidly around the middle-aged man.

Having seen Hai Bodong freeze someone earlier, the man dared not be careless. He summoned a Dou Qi veil and tried to retreat.

But the instant he landed, Hai Bodong's figure appeared silently behind him. With a light tap to the back—

Another fresh ice coffin formed.

Inside, the man's wide eyes and pale face froze mid-expression, fear etched on his features.

Seeing this, the onlookers gasped again.

Then came the chilling realization: even their own Dou Qi felt sluggish in this cold.

What terrifyingly pure ice-element Dou Qi!

Once they realized it was Hai Bodong's aura causing the chill, many were stunned.

This strength… at least a Dou Ling?

Maybe even a Dou Wang?

The Mo Clan had clearly messed with the wrong people.

Only two in the room were unaffected by the cold—Xiao Yuan and Xiao Yan.

In fact, Xiao Yuan found it quite refreshing, thanks to his cultivation in the Mysterious Ice Art.

"Let's go, kids."

Hai Bodong motioned to the brothers, then turned and walked out.

Floating behind him were two massive ice blocks—one containing the arrogant young miss, the other the unlucky steward.

Xiao Yuan and Xiao Yan exchanged a glance and followed silently.

Many in the hall wanted to tag along, but once they realized the trio was likely heading straight into the Mo Clan's headquarters, they reconsidered. Following would make them look nosy at best, reckless at worst.

On the road, the three silently raised their hoods again.

Sure, some had seen their faces—but it didn't matter. The ones raiding the Mo Clan were black-robed strangers. No one could say for certain who they really were.

Inside his sleeve, Xiao Yuan was secretly forming hand seals.

Listening to the Whispering Wind!

Though they could force their way in, it was far better to find Qinglian and gather evidence of the Mo Clan's experiments.

Soul force blended with wind-type Dou Qi spread out, sweeping over the Mo Clan's estate.

But after a moment, Xiao Yuan frowned.

Nothing unusual.

He then switched to earth-type Dou Qi and began probing underground.

As they advanced, the Mo Clan estate came into view—and he finally sensed something off.

In the northeastern part of the mansion, several large underground chambers existed. Not many in number, but quite spacious.

This must be it.

Focusing Listening to the Whispering Wind around that area, Xiao Yuan intensified his search.

Sure enough—he caught a familiar, chilling presence.

Qinglian was there.

With that confirmed, he flipped his palm, revealing a jade slip. A light squeeze—and it shattered.

Eyes narrowed, he looked at the Mo Clan headquarters ahead.

It resembled a fortress. Tall walls, patrols every few dozen meters, and glinting blades hidden in the shadows.

From his earlier reconnaissance, Xiao Yuan had learned that at least a dozen overlapping lines of sight guarded the skies—any aerial assault would result in an arrowstorm.

Not that it mattered.

The three of them were walking in the front gate.

As they approached the entrance, their Dou Qi surged in sync.

"Who are you three?"

The two guards grew tense at the sight of the three black-robed figures carrying two enormous ice blocks.

When they looked closer and saw the captives inside, they turned pale.

Mouths opened to shout a warning—

But Xiao Yuan casually waved his hand. Two streaks of Dou Qi knocked them unconscious instantly.

At his current strength, subduing two Dou Zhes required no effort.

They walked inside without fear. Anyone from the Mo Clan they encountered was swiftly dealt with.

Eventually, a watchpost spotted them. An alarm shrieked through the air.

Xiao Yuan, meanwhile, had expanded Listening to the Whispering Wind to its limit, channeling wind energy into the underground chambers.

Even sealed chambers needed airflow—and wherever air flowed, wind-element Dou Qi could follow.

Like eyes, the wind returned blurred images to Xiao Yuan. Some frames went black, but soon light returned.

In a dim chamber, several figures sat together.

"Mo Lin, how's the preparation?"

An elderly man in pale gray robes, hair white, spoke from the head seat.

"Great Elder, it's confirmed. The girl possesses the legendary Green Snake Three-Flowered Pupils."

A middle-aged man replied respectfully.

"Excellent..." A gleam flashed in the elder's eyes. He chuckled darkly. "Who would've thought we'd stumble upon such a rare treasure?"

"Is it really that powerful?" someone asked skeptically.

"Heh, you saw the twin-headed snake guarding her, didn't you? That's a Dou Ling-level beast. She has no cultivation—how else could she control it?"

The elder's expression turned greedy.

"If we cultivate those eyes to maturity, who in the Jia Ma Empire can stop us? Even Yun Yun won't be a concern—we won't need Misty Cloud Sect at all.

The tribute we pay them yearly is ridiculous. Without that burden, our growth would skyrocket."

He slammed the table, his face twisted in frustration.

The others nodded nervously.

"What of the mercenary group in Mo City? Are they eliminated? They might've seen the girl's secret. We can't risk leaks—they must die."

"We've received no word yet. But with Mo Ran's strength, it's only a matter of time."

"Tell them to hurry. Once they're wiped out, clean up the stragglers. No loose ends."

"Yes, Great Elder!"

Satisfied, the elder nodded. "Prepare. After next month's celebration, we'll begin the transplant. Can't afford delays."

"Yes!"

"Good. Keep security tight around the girl's holding cell. If anything goes wrong…"

"Yes!"

They all bowed again.

The elder exited the room.

"Yun Yun… Just wait. One day, we'll make Misty Cloud Sect pay for everything they owe us."

His face twisted with madness. He didn't notice the faint trace of soul energy brushing past.

Back on the surface, the elder heard the wailing alarm.

"Hmm? What's going on?"

He frowned. No one had dared attack the Mo Clan in years.

Moments later, he locked onto the direction of the fighting and hurried off.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yuan's eyes lit up mid-battle. After sending a Mo guard flying with a palm strike, he sent a voice transmission to Hai Bodong and Xiao Yan:

"Elder Hai, Xiao Yan—I've found Qinglian. Stall them. Give me five minutes."

Hai Bodong nodded without emotion. A Dou Ling-level aura burst from him, halting the advancing enemy Da Dou Shis.

Xiao Yuan stepped behind him, then silently vanished into the night.

"A Dou Ling-level powerhouse!"

The Mo Clan guards paled. Glancing at the two frozen victims, they were stunned.

How had their second miss offended such terrifying enemies?

At least one of them had strength above even the Great Elder!

Just then, a similarly strong Dou Ling aura arrived on the scene.

Everyone breathed a little easier.

"Great Elder!"

They saluted.

"You three—I am Mo Cheng, Great Elder of the Mo Clan. May I ask why you've stormed our home?"

Mo Cheng narrowed his eyes, glancing at Hai Bodong and the two mysterious figures.

"Oh, nothing much. Just heard your Mo Clan is the local tyrant. But we couldn't even find a place to stay. That young lady of yours called us 'bumpkins.' Tell me—do we look like bumpkins to you? Doesn't that make your clan a little too overbearing?"

Hai Bodong asked coldly.

Mo Cheng, realizing this wasn't about Qinglian, let out a breath and forced a smile.

"My apologies. It was our oversight. I'll personally arrange the best accommodations in all of Yancheng for you. We'll also discipline the ones at fault. Would this satisfy you?"

"Oh? You're the Great Elder—your home must be quite nice. How about you vacate it for us?"

Hai Bodong sneered.

"That joke isn't funny."

Mo Cheng's smile faded.

"I wasn't joking."

Hai Bodong's tone turned icy.

"Hmph. Seems everyone's forgotten the fear I once inspired."

Mo Cheng's expression darkened, and his killing intent erupted.
