Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Xiao Yixian

Chapter 51: Xiao Yixian

In the evening, after riding for three days, Xiao Yan finally arrived at a small town in the eastern part of the Monster Beast Mountain Range.

This town was called Qing Shan Town, and because of its proximity to the Monster Beast Mountain Range, it was also referred to as the Monster Beast Town. The majority of the population in the town consisted of mercenaries, who lived by the edge of danger every day.

They gathered in groups, arms crossed, spitting and talking loudly on the streets, carelessly discussing which women in town were the most appealing, where the strongest alcohol could be found, and which magical beasts were the most ferocious.

Along both sides of the street, there were many brightly lit stores. Because of its location on the outskirts of the Monster Beast Mountain Range, the town had a lively atmosphere.

Not long after, Xiao Yan spotted a large pharmacy not far ahead.

"Wan Yao Zhai" (Ten Thousand Medicine Pavilion)

Seeing the familiar three characters, Xiao Yan raised his eyebrows and walked toward it.

Although there were many shops selling weapons and armor, they weren't of much use to Xiao Yan.

After all, he already had weapons made by the best blacksmith in Wutan City. Though they weren't as good as some divine weapons, they were sufficient for him at his current stage.

However, he was quite interested in herbs, as they were essential for his cultivation.

Although he hadn't studied alchemy, over the years, due to his management of the marketplace and searching for herbs, Xiao Yan had learned a great deal about them.

Thus, as his gaze swept across the herbs in the shop, he didn't feel unfamiliar and could identify most of them at a glance.

The store had a moderate crowd, and the staff were busy, so no one immediately greeted Xiao Yan when he entered.

However, Xiao Yan wasn't bothered by this. He didn't like pushy salespeople constantly pestering him with recommendations, so the silence worked in his favor.

His eyes scanned the transparent counters and, when his gaze landed on a small jade box, he was momentarily taken aback.

"Healing medicine."

Staring at the label on the jade bottle, Xiao Yan squinted his eyes slightly.

This should be the healing medicine made by Xiao Yixian.

Although medicines made by regular doctors didn't have the same potency as those made by alchemists, they were much more affordable.

After a moment of thought, Xiao Yan walked over to the counter.

"I'll take all of this healing medicine."

Xiao Yan lightly tapped the counter with his finger and said indifferently to the male staff member who approached.

"Ah, excellent taste, sir! This healing medicine is specially prepared by our top physician, Xiao Yixian. Its effects are first-rate!" The shop assistant, who had been eyeing Xiao Yan's pristine, well-tailored clothes, was quick to flatter him upon hearing his large order.

"Heh, a physician? Are you sure it's as effective as you claim, if it's not made by an alchemist?" Xiao Yan raised an eyebrow, feigning disinterest.

"Ah! If becoming an alchemist was that easy, it wouldn't be such a rare occupation! But Xiao Yixian is the best physician in Qing Shan Town. She has treated most of the mercenaries here. The healing medicines she makes have been practically tested and proven effective!" the staff member said with a smile, generously praising Xiao Yixian's abilities.

"Oh? Interesting, then I'll take all of it." Xiao Yan nodded, then took out a gold card from the Miter family and handed it to the shop assistant.

Seeing the gold card, the shop assistant's face immediately became more serious.

This card was the second most prestigious after the Miter family's purple-gold card.

Clearly, the status of this customer was extraordinary.

"Please wait a moment!" The staff member, with a humble smile, bowed slightly and, after showing respect, packed all the healing medicine before heading to the payment terminal.

Watching the assistant leave, Xiao Yan couldn't help but smirk.

If he had taken out the purple-gold card earlier, he might have attracted a lot more attention.

But even the gold card was enough to turn heads!

Feeling the eyes of the crowd, Xiao Yan couldn't help but smile smugly.

A young, wealthy, handsome gentleman without any attendants—he was practically a prime target for those with ill intentions.

Surely, someone had already started scheming?

"Sir, your gold card."

A moment later, the shop assistant returned quickly and handed the card back to Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan nodded, took the gold card, and with a flip of his hand, stored it in his storage ring.

"By the way, are your herbs all sourced from the Monster Beast Mountain Range?" Xiao Yan casually asked, seemingly just making small talk.

"Yes, sir! The Monster Beast Mountain Range is rich in medicinal resources. Our Wan Yao Zhai has a team that specifically gathers herbs there, though each time they enter the mountain, we have to spend a lot of money hiring mercenary groups as escorts. After all, wherever there are herbs, there are magical beasts!" The shop assistant smiled and nodded, giving a detailed explanation.

"Is that so? Then if I wanted to go to the Monster Beast Mountain Range, would it be more cost-effective for me to join your mercenary group as an escort?" Xiao Yan asked, playing the role of a curious young master interested in seeing the Monster Beast Mountain Range.

"Sir, the mercenaries have foul mouths and poor manners. With your status, joining them might lead to more offense than it's worth. It wouldn't be a good idea!" The shop assistant looked around and then leaned closer, speaking quietly.

"Heh, no worries." Xiao Yan smiled and was about to say something else when he suddenly noticed some commotion at the entrance of the pharmacy.

"Wow, it's Xiao Yixian!"

"She's so beautiful, tsk tsk, look at that waist..."

"Idiot, are you trying to die? Most of the mercenaries in Qing Shan Town have been treated by Xiao Yixian. Be careful, or they'll cut your tongue off if they hear you!"

Two men standing not far from Xiao Yan were speaking in low voices. When one of them made some teasing remarks, his companion quickly grabbed him and whispered a curse, pulling him away hurriedly.

Xiao Yan shook his head and then caught a glimpse of a woman in a white dress through the gaps in the crowd.

As the crowd spread apart, Xiao Yan finally saw the full figure of the woman in white.

She was wearing a light white dress. Although her beauty wasn't breathtaking, she was still a rare sight to behold. With a gentle smile, she radiated a fresh and ethereal aura. Her green ribbon accentuated her slim waist, adding a touch of delicate vulnerability.

Her slender figure made one unable to resist the urge to hold her in their arms.
