Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Ruthless Brothers

Chapter 40: The Ruthless Brothers

Faced with thirty armed Fighters, the ten-plus guards who had been so arrogant moments ago instantly turned pale. Before they could even attempt to escape, they were surrounded, and within moments, blood-curdling screams echoed through the entire street.

"Xiao Yu Jie, are you alright?"

Xiao Yuan turned his head, the killing intent on his face instantly melting into a gentle smile as he asked softly.

"I'm fine. I ran into Xun'er on the way out—she said she wanted to visit, so I came along. Who would've thought we'd run into this group of bastards."

Xiao Yu blushed slightly as she looked into Xiao Yuan's concerned eyes, warmth rising in her heart as she lowered her voice.

On the side, Xiao Ning looked at this scene as though he had seen a ghost.

Was this really the same sister who could tear off his scalp at home?

Xiao Yan had also come to Xun'er's side by now, though his gaze was a little strange. With a grin, he said, "You were pretty fierce with your words back there."

Hearing his teasing, Xun'er gave an innocent shrug and smiled sweetly. "I didn't want to... but I really couldn't stand his face. Even back when Brother Xiao Yan was reckless, he never tried to snatch girls in public like that."

Xiao Yan awkwardly rubbed his nose. Sure, he had been wild once, but not like that brainless clown...

"Xiao Yuan, are you declaring war on my Jia Lie family?"

Jia Lie Ao growled, trying to mask his panic as he watched his guards fall one by one.

"Xiao Yu Jie, take Xun'er and Xiao Ning somewhere to rest. Xiao Yan, the idiot alchemist is yours. A worthless Fighter hollowed out by wine and lust—should be no problem for you, right?"

Xiao Yuan ignored Jia Lie Ao and, after giving instructions to Xiao Yu, turned to Xiao Yan with a cold smile.

"An alchemist? Heh, don't worry, Brother."

Xiao Yan nodded, his eyes narrowing as he turned to Liu Xi.

Liu Xi's aura suggested he was around a Six-Star Fighter, but Xiao Yan could tell—his actual combat ability was probably weaker than Jia Lie Ao, who was only a Three-Star Fighter. Xiao Yan had three Xuan-rank Dou Techniques. Beating this clown wouldn't be a problem.

Xiao Yuan knew well what Xiao Yan was capable of now. That was why he confidently left Liu Xi to him.

As for Jia Lie Ao—Xiao Yuan was curious to see how well he had mastered the Wind Swirl Art he'd stolen!

"You've got it wrong. It's not me declaring war on your Jia Lie family. It's you, Jia Lie Ao, who declared war on the Xiao family first—when you tried to harm our people. It was only because I arrived in time that the consequences weren't worse. But how we settle this—now that's up to me.

"Since you've already started this war, you'd better be ready to die. Are you ready?"

Xiao Yuan sneered, twirling the black iron spear in his hand before flinging the impaled corpse off its tip. With a stomp, he launched forward.

Xiao Yan followed close behind, charging toward Liu Xi.

"Pretty boy! We're both Three-Star Fighters. I want to see what makes you so arrogant!"

Jia Lie Ao sneered as he watched Xiao Yuan charge, his hands rapidly gathering faint blue wind-type Dou Qi.

In the blink of an eye, he curved his hands into claws, ten faintly glowing wind spikes forming at his fingertips. With a wicked grin, he slashed them toward Xiao Yuan, slicing through the air with sharp, howling force.

But Xiao Yuan's eyes narrowed calmly. Twisting his waist, he thrust his spear forward, shattering all ten spikes with precision and ease.

The seasoned mercenaries in the watching crowd gasped in awe at how effortlessly he dismantled Jia Lie Ao's attack.

Without pause, Xiao Yuan lunged forward with his spear. The black tip bloomed into a flurry of afterimages before Jia Lie Ao's eyes.

Unable to see the true spearhead behind the flurry, Jia Lie Ao's heart sank. With a flick of his wind-covered hand, he generated several pale blue wind cyclones in front of him.

Xiao Yuan's eyes flashed with mockery.

Idiot.

You think these pathetic little cyclones can stop my Six-Harmony Spear?

With a thought, his Ice-type Dou Qi erupted. The spear tip gleamed with a glassy black sheen.

Shhhhkk!

Under Jia Lie Ao's horrified gaze, Xiao Yuan's spear tore through the wind cyclones like paper, shooting straight toward his chest.

In a panic, Jia Lie Ao clenched his fist, blue Dou Qi swirling into a vortex.

Xuan-rank Low-Tier Dou Technique: Azure Wind Spiral Fist!

As his fist launched through the air, it produced a piercing shriek. The pressure was so intense that it blew debris off the ground around him.

Even the onlookers had to shield their faces and take a step back.

But Xiao Yuan didn't flinch. He twisted his waist, let go with his lead hand, and thrust forward with the rear. His Ice-type Dou Qi surged from his core, and his aura instantly surpassed Jia Lie Ao's.

Six-Harmony Spear Technique: Azure Dragon's Claw!

A chilling gleam flared in Xiao Yuan's eyes. His black iron spear glowed with deadly frost, sending shivers through the crowd.

As expected, his spear smashed through the Wind Spiral Fist with ease and drove straight through Jia Lie Ao's right hand.

"Ugh-aaah!"

Jia Lie Ao screamed in agony, his body flung backward, landing hard on the ground and clutching his broken arm.

Just then, another loud crash rang out.

Liu Xi, in his mourning-white robes, was sent flying and landed directly on top of Jia Lie Ao, nearly knocking him unconscious.

Shrill screams followed one after another.

Among the crowd, those with sharp eyes could see that both Liu Xi and Jia Lie Ao had lost the use of their right arms. One was pierced through by a spear, the other's bones shattered beyond repair. Even with the best healing medicine, it might never be fixed.

The two young masters of the Xiao family—now that was some ruthless power!
