After her bath, Fíliya slept with Sense. Fortunately, the bed in the cabin wasn't small, so it didn't feel crowded with two people.
Of course, even if it had been crowded, Fíliya would have insisted on squeezing in with Sense anyway.
As soon as she lay down, Fíliya quickly fell asleep. Although she had wanted to chat a bit with Sense, she was just too tired today, and she believed Sense was as well.
And so, the night became incredibly peaceful, just like countless nights before.
The next morning, Fíliya slowly opened her eyes. And there they were, a pair of eyes she knew so well.
Even their sleep schedules were so similar. It could no longer be called a coincidence, but rather a habit they had developed together over the years.
They woke up at the same time and, with a perfectly synchronized pace, walked into the bathroom one after the other. After washing up, Fíliya started to follow Sense around, helping her out.
They began to prepare breakfast. Of course, throughout the entire process, Fíliya was only in charge of the 'job of handing things to Sense.' As for the actual cooking, even Sense, who loved her, wouldn't dare let Fíliya's demonic claws touch any kitchen utensils.
For all the talent Miss Fíliya possessed in magic, she was correspondingly that incompetent when it came to 'cooking.' While she wouldn't do something as exaggerated as blowing up the house while making a meal, the things she served could basically be used as a sacrificial offering to an evil god.
After a simple breakfast, Fíliya was the first to speak to Sense.
"Mm... I should probably get going soon. I can't keep them waiting too long."
Fíliya had clearly chosen a bad time to say this, because upon hearing her words, a look of disappointment clearly appeared on Sense's face.
"Is that so? Leaving already... to return to your beloved Demon Race?"
Fíliya's eyes widened. Was Sense really like this?
She had never heard such bitter words from Sense's mouth before. Usually, Sense was either quiet or just wore a faint smile. This version of Sense was an unprecedentedly rare form.
So Fíliya nervously sat back down, her eyes glued to Sense's body.
"What is it? Weren't you leaving?"
Sense looked at Fíliya, her face expressionless.
"Uh... Sense, didn't we already agree on this? Why are you suddenly angry again?"
Fíliya carefully observed Sense's reaction.
"I'm not angry. I just... feel like an old mother who has diligently tilled the fields and managed the household, only to suddenly hear her child say, 'Mom, I'm going to run off with others to become a mountain bandit.' It's something like that."
"It's... it's not that dramatic, is it?"
Miss Fíliya could feel a large bead of sweat forming on her forehead.
"Oh, but it is that dramatic. In fact, last night I seriously considered whether I should knock you out and just pack you up to take you home."
"Mm... then why didn't you do it?"
Fíliya asked with a curious look.
"Yes, why didn't I do it..."
Sense also wore a puzzled expression, her tone as if she were asking herself.
"For one, it's because you've gotten much stronger. I can't overpower you anymore... No, maybe you're even stronger than me now and I just haven't realized it yet."
Sense said self-deprecatingly, then added.
"And for another... it's probably because, in this world, the one named 'Sense' is fated to be led around by the nose by the one named 'Fíliya'."
As she said this, Sense shot Fíliya a very resentful glare.
To this, Fíliya could only remain silent. She really couldn't think of how to respond.
"Fíliya, let me ask you, is that demon... important to you?"
Sense's tone changed from before, becoming very serious. This made Fíliya straighten her back and sit up properly, facing Sense's scrutiny.
"Hmm... which demon are you talking about?"
Fíliya tried hard to make her expression serious, but in the end, she couldn't manage it, and her tone slackened.
"Don't play dumb. The green one, of course."
Sense said with a deadpan expression. Although Fíliya had chosen to protect the weakest demon back then, Sense was certain that the green one was the one with the deepest bond with Fíliya.
But if asked why? Sense could probably only answer with one word—intuition.
"Her... She is the starting point of my ideal. And of course, if possible, I would be willing to walk with her to the very end."
Fíliya said slowly.
Hearing Fíliya's words, Sense felt as if a sharp thorn had pierced her heart. It was the first time she had heard Fíliya express her feelings for someone else so unabashedly.
"...What's her name?"
Although she tried to tell herself not to care about that demon, Sense ultimately couldn't resist asking the question.
"Mm... That's the one thing I can't tell you, Sense. She's not ready yet, so I can't reveal her name to humans. After all, her name has never appeared in human records."
"Never been recorded by humans... In other words, that thing killed everyone who's ever seen her, is that right?"
Sense asked, frowning.
"Yes... that's right."
Fíliya nodded. In the face of such a fact, she had nothing to hide.
Then, before Fíliya's eyes, Sense clenched her right hand into a fist and swung it forcefully... but it ultimately turned into a light tap, her small fist landing gently on Fíliya's chest.
"I really don't know what to do with you. Even if you had to get involved with the Demon Race... why couldn't you have picked a safer target?"
Sense kept her head down, not letting Fíliya see her expression.
"Mm... a safe, weak demon couldn't possibly be the starting point of my ideal, right? That's easy enough to understand."
Fíliya gave her answer with a light laugh, at the same time reaching out her hand and placing it over Sense's fist.
"Also, Sense, why don't you try asking a different question?"
Fíliya winked at Sense, as if hinting at something.
Sense was a very intelligent person, so she understood Fíliya's hint. But she was still hesitant, afraid of hearing an answer she wouldn't like. So, after a long moment of mental preparation, Sense slowly asked.
"Then... am I... important to you too?"
"Yes, incredibly so. If she is the starting point of my ideal... then you are the end point of my life. You know, Sense, I'm going to have you all to myself, you know? Even when it's time to go to hell, I'm going to cling to you."
Was this the kind of answer she had been hoping for...? For a moment, Sense didn't know how to react, but she could clearly feel that the sharp pain in her heart from before had vanished without a trace.
And so, Sense lifted her head and reached out, stroking the face of the girl before her.
"Cherish your life. Don't do anything foolish. And... remember to come home."
