Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: Can the fireplace in my house teleport?

"Is something wrong?"

Constantine asked Zatanna while Martha was making coffee.

"How much do you know about souls?"

Zatanna's eyes became serious.

"Hmm, I think no one understands them better than I do."

Constantine surveyed the layout of the Kent home and said, "Haven't you heard the saying, 'A prolonged illness makes one a doctor'? It seems neither Heaven nor Hell particularly welcomes my soul right now, so I believe no one understands better than I do how to distinguish between evil and orderly souls."

Constantine's life was a tragedy; his current state meant he wouldn't "kick the bucket" easily.

There was a time when he had been dedicated to doing good deeds, hoping to go to Heaven.

Because long-term smoking had damaged his lungs, he began planning for his afterlife, intending to do good deeds so God would see them and, out of mercy, let him in.

But Satan wouldn't let Constantine into Heaven so easily.

The person he couldn't have, God shouldn't easily have either; for this, he would rather destroy the other party.

So Satan poured his demonic blood into his body, making him an impure person.

Although he survived, his physical ailments were not cured.

Thus, Constantine had no choice but to drag his unhealthy body along, barely surviving in the world.

For this, he tried to avoid casting spells, partly due to his innate aversion to magic, and partly because his body couldn't support it.

Regarding magic, from the moment he caused his father's death, he had paid a sufficient price.

This price would extend indefinitely, affecting everyone around him.

In the future, his ex-girlfriends would die in various bizarre and strange ways.

Dismembered, sacrificed—

Various unbearable curses would entangle his girlfriends.

"The soul I'm talking about isn't the soul you use your nose to detect good and evil, but…"

Zatanna's eyes showed a complex expression, "the soul consciousness that soul mages often refer to. I discovered a concentration of consciousness on Mrs. Kent that emanates a strong soul power. This means the fetus in her womb is a blessed soul, an incredibly powerful existence."

"Are you saying there's something wrong with the fetus in her womb?"

Constantine asked with a frown.

"I don't know. This isn't something magic can detect. I just sometimes have a keen sense of perception; it's more like it's innate."

"Hmm."

Constantine, with a serious expression, pulled a cigarette from his pocket. Just as he was about to light it, he suddenly realized this wasn't a place where he could smoke freely. After putting the cigarette away, he said, "I know there's a kind of Soul Stone in this world that can preserve a soul for rebirth. Some higher-dimensional beings can also project their souls into a person's body to be reborn. Perhaps…"

Constantine looked at Martha, who was walking over with coffee, and said, "The child inside Mrs. Kent will be a child that will amaze both you and me."

"Hot coffee. I apologize, it might not be to your taste. After all, these are all instant coffees. We should prepare some fresh coffee to entertain guests."

Martha said to the two of them.

"Actually, I love it."

Constantine smiled at Martha, "This instant coffee has a strange attraction for me. I like uncertainty."

"You're Eric's friends, from school?"

Jonathan asked the two of them.

Although Constantine and Zatanna said Eric was their friend, Jonathan was still a little suspicious.

Especially about the man in front of him, who didn't look like a good person at all; he seriously doubted his identity.

"We met at a book club."

Constantine pretentiously pulled out one of Eric's books from his coat.

"A specially signed book. Actually, Eric gave this to me. We once discussed various plot developments in the book together and even tasted the dark cuisine mentioned in the book. I am his loyal fan and his friend."

Constantine lied without batting an eye.

"Is that so?"

Jonathan nodded. Although he was still somewhat suspicious, he didn't ask any more questions.

"We heard Eric hasn't been around these past few days, so we came to check, thinking maybe we could offer some help."

Zatanna said to the couple.

"Thank you."

Martha thanked Zatanna. Just as she was about to say something more, she suddenly felt the ground shake slightly, a subtle tremor.

The coffee on the round table was shaken, spilling a few drops. Only Constantine, with quick reflexes, covered the cup just as the coffee was about to spill.

For a scoundrel like him, looking out for his own petty interests before disaster strikes was what he did most often.

Earlier, at the Serene Club, he witnessed those amateur magicians being burned to death. Even when the flames were about to spread to his body, he still covered his wine glass with his hand, refusing to move his body.

"What happened?"

Zatanna felt waves of energy in the air, and a shocked expression appeared in her eyes.

She sensed a unique magical aura.

After exchanging glances with Constantine, they immediately walked outside the room.

A raging fire ignited in the distance of the town, and the booming sound of explosions gradually spread through the air.

Jonathan and Martha also followed, looking at the flames in the distance of the night sky with astonished expressions.

"That's near Luthor's chemical plant. Did something happen?"

Jonathan said uncertainly.

Although he had considerable opinions about the Luther Family and was quite critical of Lionel's series of actions in Smallville, it didn't mean he wished to see the entire Luther Family explode.

"It's not an ordinary chemical plant explosion."

Constantine stood outside the house, lit a cigarette, and said with a serious expression.

"Ordinary gas and chemical combustion wouldn't have this effect. The magical elements permeating the air, if they were a bit denser, could probably turn the entire town to ashes."

"We have to go! Little Zha!"

Constantine, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, walked quickly forward.

Zatanna hesitated for a moment, apologized to Jonathan and Martha, and then immediately followed Constantine's steps.

"What did you see?"

Catching up to Constantine in a few steps, Zatanna asked him.

Boom!

A powerful beam of flame energy exploded not far from Constantine!

Suddenly hit by a powerful impact, Constantine was immediately uncontrollably thrown out by the aftermath of the explosion, landing heavily on the ground.

Amidst the flying dirt, Constantine landed on his back, clutching his shoulder in pain.

"John!"

Seeing Constantine suddenly attacked, injured, and falling, Zatanna immediately rushed to his side.

Another purple storm struck Zatanna!

Magic carrying powerful destructive force tore through the air, assailing the two of them.

Facing the sudden impact of the highly destructive magic, Zatanna immediately chanted a counter-spell, preparing to block the incoming attack.

"Wait, Little Zha!"

Before Zatanna could release her magic, Constantine immediately stopped her.

He couldn't let Zatanna risk a backlash by casting magic at such a critical moment.

After stopping Zatanna from casting magic, Constantine pulled out a scroll.

It was a magic scroll he had won from a demon by playing cards.

He instantly ignited the scroll, releasing a powerful barrier in front of them.

Boom!

Magic clashed, and the entire ground shook from the impact.

Amidst the deafening roar, Constantine grabbed Zatanna and ran with her towards Martha and Jonathan.

On the other side, Martha looked at Lana, who was floating in the sky, her eyes emitting a pale white light, and a symbol composed of a full moon and a crescent moon engraved on her forehead, her eyes filled with shock!

She casually shot out purple beams of light, impacting the ground and causing massive explosions, which were then engulfed by flames.

Wantonly destroying everything in existence, turning the farm into a hell burning with raging fires.

Was this still the Lana with a crystal-clear heart?

Martha was momentarily stunned when Constantine, who had run over, grabbed her arm and pulled her into the room.

Jonathan was also pushed into the room by Constantine, who suddenly had great strength.

Upon entering the room, Constantine immediately pulled out a lighter from his pocket. After opening it, he aimed it at the fireplace and violently threw it.

"I hope this thing Sir Winters gave me isn't a trick, or else we'll all be roasted here today."

Constantine muttered to himself while looking at the unchanging fireplace flames.

The pain of his ribs breaking followed him like maggots attached to bone.

Enduring the pain, sweat continuously streamed down his forehead. Constantine gritted his teeth, refusing to let out even a single groan.

"Whoosh!"

No sooner had Constantine finished speaking than the fireplace flames suddenly shot up.

"Go!"

Without hesitation, Constantine first pushed Martha towards the fireplace.

Accompanied by Martha's scream, her figure was quickly swallowed by the flames, instantly disappearing.

"This!"

Kent looked in shock at his disappearing wife. He never imagined his home's fireplace had such a function.

The next second, Constantine pushed a somewhat dazed Jonathan and Zatanna into the flames.

The lit flames instantly teleported the two away.

A massive magical energy blast struck the room. Explosions and rolling flames instantly assailed Constantine, who was standing by the fireplace.

Constantine, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, turned to face the explosive flames, a sarcastic smile appearing on his face.

Boom!

With his feet on familiar ground, Clark looked at the burning town in the distance, then lowered his head to look at the ruined farm in front of him.

His eyes flickered with disbelief.

Facing the ruined farm, Clark's legs gave out, and he fell to his knees.

His fists pressed against the ground, his head bowed, letting the seeds of hatred burn within him.
