Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: It Hurts So Much to Get Hit!

In the dimly lit shelter, Gwen, as Ghost Spider-Man, clung to the ceiling before skillfully positioning herself atop a crossbeam.

"Whoosh!"

She struck Spider-Man's signature pose and fired webbing at a gangster, hoisting him to the ceiling.

"Ah!"

The Demon Gang members weren't deaf or mute; the hoisted man screamed, and though Gwen knocked him out, it was too late.

"What's happening?"

"Who's there?"

"Turn on the lights! Now!"

The gang members sprang into action, fumbling for the lights.

Realizing her advantage was slipping, Gwen leapt down as lights flickered on.

She latched onto a hefty man with her web, propelling herself towards him.

"Bang!"

Her flying kick connected with his face, knocking him out cold.

Despite being a woman, Gwen's body had transformed after the spider bite, enhancing her abilities substantially.

She could lift several tons but struggled with over ten.

Rounding up, she estimated her lifting capacity at twenty tons.

Thus, she always held back in fights, fearing a single punch might be lethal.

In the darkness, Gwen swiftly continued her takedown.

Using her web, she disrupted their balance, pouncing with precision.

"Thump!"

As the lights fully illuminated the room, Gwen had already subdued four or five members.

The rest of the gang spotted her.

"It's Ghost Spider-Man!"

"Open fire!"

A burly man, distinct in his mask, commanded.

Ghost Spider-Man had gained notoriety in New York, known even among gangsters.

They fantasized about capturing her, unmasking the slender superhero to see if she was as stunning as rumored.

But they were outmatched.

"Da da da!"

They fired, but Gwen, agile and guided by her 'spider-sense,' anticipated the bullets, dodging expertly.

Along the way, she grabbed a chair with her web, hurling it at them.

Then, she webbed their guns out of reach.

These low-level thugs were no match for her.

"Da da da!"

In his office, Mr. Negative heard gunfire and looked up.

"What's going on?"

He quickly gathered his documents, staging a robbery scene to obscure his intent.

Descending from the second floor, he reached the lobby—where the homeless often rested, leaving a lingering odor.

Unbothered, Mr. Negative focused on Ghost Spider-Man, who was taking down his men.

"We haven't provoked you, so why interfere?" Mr. Negative growled.

"You're provoking me," Gwen retorted, catching her breath after dispatching the others.

"Hmph, a young girl playing hero," Mr. Negative deduced her youth from her voice.

Gwen was about to reply when she sensed danger.

Mr. Negative vanished, and shadowy figures surrounded her.

"What's happening?"

Gwen felt a negative force, her irritation mounting, control slipping.

She lunged at the shadows, attacking relentlessly.

"Bang!"

The figures dissipated like smoke, yet their numbers grew.

Gwen was ensnared.

Meanwhile, Mr. Negative took a breath, relieved.

He'd released negative energy, subtly influencing Ghost Spider-Man, who hadn't been on guard.

"Get out now!" he ordered his men.

Gwen, too gentle, lacked Batman's ruthlessness. Those downed wouldn't rise again if he were there.

Batman never kills but ensures paralysis.

Mr. Negative slipped past Ghost Spider-Man; the NYPD would be there soon, and he needed to escape.

But Gwen lunged at him.

Mr. Negative reacted swiftly, countering with an uppercut.

Gwen dodged, rolling aside.

She'd regained her composure, realizing she needed to defeat the shadow figures.

"Let's finish this!"

Mr. Negative handed his items to an underling, facing Ghost Spider-Man, cracking his neck, fists clenched.

Gwen reluctantly watched the gang flee, focusing on Mr. Negative.

They clashed.

Mr. Negative wasn't ordinary; he'd mutated like Gwen.

Framed for drug experiments, he emerged altered, with superhuman abilities and a new persona.

His enhanced strength and speed, coupled with street fighting skills, made him formidable.

The fight was intense, but Gwen found an opening, kicking Mr. Negative, her heel grazing his face.

"Ouch!"

"Brat!"

Mr. Negative roared, flinging Gwen away.

He pummeled her.

Gwen couldn't evade, taking several hits.

Just then, police sirens blared outside.

"Waaaaah!"

Mr. Negative realized the situation, abandoning Ghost Spider-Man, fleeing swiftly.

The NYPD responded quickly, arriving within three minutes of the emergency call.

Gwen, clutching her stomach, staggered out as her father arrived with reinforcements.

"Ghost Spider-Man, you again."

George Stacy eyed her wearily.

To the police, Gwen was a vigilante, much to George's chagrin. He despised vigilantes, wishing to apprehend her.

But Gwen never gave him the chance.

Now, she quipped, "Sheriff, you're late; the criminals fled."

"You're a criminal!"

Sheriff George glared at Ghost Spider-Man.

He wondered whose daughter she was—a constant worry.

If she were his, she'd need a firm lesson!

Gwen, finished speaking, swung away on her web, aching from the fight.
