Damian stared at him for a long moment, then looked away, muttering something under his breath.
Zara spoke up then, her tone cautious. "So what happens now? We just do whatever Mr. L says?"
"No," Liam said firmly. "We work with him. We share information. But we don't trust him. And if he tries to screw us over, we end it."
Camille tilted her head, her smile returning. "I like the way you think."
Liam turned his attention back to the group. "I'm not here to change everything. I'm not here to turn us into something we're not. But I am here to lead. And that means making hard calls when I have to."
He paused.
"Shay built this crew to be a family. I'm not going to mess with that. But I'm also not going to sit around and watch you all get killed because I was too scared to make a decision."
Damian let out a sharp breath, shaking his head. "Fine. I still think this is a bad idea. But if Shay trusts you, I'll give you a chance."
