Finally making it to the club. I felt a smile hit my face. Seeing Finn play the guitar, he bobbed his head up and down. I always admire his radiant smile, which reflects his deep happiness and sense of fulfillment. Then I saw Elias and Annette. The anger hit my face, and I could literally march over there, but there was no way I wanted to start an unnatural scene. Nobody in this club knew that I was the king of this streak, and Elias was under strict orders to keep his hands off Annette. Or should I say lips?
I watched as she sat in his lap and made out with him. I moved over to the bar, and the waiter handed me a beer with lime. I smile. She remembered my drink.
"Thanks, Love."
She smiled.
I felt eyes upon me, and I saw Abby. The girl I felt partly responsible for protecting. I can't just let Devin kill her. I am responsible for eliminating all the snake people, besides the Greenwood clan. So that means her life is in my hands.
I sat at a table, distancing myself from Elias and Annette. I will handle him back in the rainforest. Taking a drink from the beer, I wished I had ordered something stronger. I wanted to skip being buzzed and go straight for shit-faced. My eyes saw Elias approaching, and I hoped I was able to control my temper. How dare he even approach me after disobeying my order? He took a seat, and I couldn't help the glare my eyes gave off. I waved my hand in the air, signaling the waiter to bring me another drink. She nodded in my direction.
"I know you're pissed, Abel."
"What gave you that idea, Elias?"
"The order with Annette was ridiculous."
I knew my face was red. "I promised her dad I would protect her. And I didn't want a relationship within the streak."
He frowned. "But you can have her."
Feeling the laughter escape my lips, I couldn't help it. This was ridiculous. "Elias, I've already told you, I haven't and wouldn't sleep with Annette. Not the way you're thinking."
"Good, because she's mine." He looked me in the eyes. I knew he wouldn't back down, and I heard the confidence in his voice.
"Then you're out of my streak for disobeying orders." I nearly hissed the words. I watched as his face turned beet red.
"Able, then you're hurting Annette because I know she likes me, and I would never hurt her." Trying to release my frustration, I tapped my fingers against the table. "Are you ready to see her every day if this relationship doesn't work?
He smirked. "Yes, and I will still give one hundred percent to the streak and Annette."
My eyes watched her dance with another girl. I smiled at her laughter. "Elias, you'd better treat her the way I would." He saluted me with his right hand. My eyes roll immediately after. Smart ass.
Hours later, I made my way out of the club. Elias, Finn, and Annette won't be back for a few hours. Annette was still glued to Elias's arm, the last I saw. Something must have happened between those two, unseen by my eyes. Just the other day at school, she was glued to me.
Exiting the club, I heard crying. I saw Abby standing with her body pressed against the brick wall of the building. She put her hands over her face. Her deep burgundy curly hair gave away her identity. I really like the subtle shade of purple in her hair. I slowly made my way toward her, keeping quiet so that I didn't alarm her. Once by her side, I noticed she didn't move. She stands motionless like a statue, tears still flowing. Her cries break my heart.
"Why the tears?"
She jumped, but removed her hand and looked at me. I noticed her eyes were red, but most importantly, her lip was swollen and Puffy. My hand gently rubbed her lower lip. She looked at me like a deer in the headlights.
"What happened to your lip?" Her eyes were huge, staring at me. Dang, and I thought Annette was shy. I watched as she seemed even more paranoid. She looked around frantically, her face pale white. This girl was scared. But of whom?
