Chapter 34 - Humiliation

Richelle was still more than a little displeased with Michael, and right now, she didn't plan on doing things the easy way with him.

She didn't ask him anything else, her look was enough. The fact that she already asked the question earlier, was just her being courteous.

Perhaps they knew or maybe they didn't, but if she wanted, she could have them both dead, before they could even say anything.

It would cause her a little trouble, but it wasn't something she couldn't handle. The real problem would be trying to hide what she wanted.

Except she was ready to massacre a good number of people, including everyone in the hospital to hide the fact that she came in hear with Sean, then she wouldn't go such lengths.

Infact even if she did, anybody smart enough to put in two and two together, would easily know she was hiding him, the moment he started attending the academy.

Although her power was effective, diplomacy was even more so, even if she didn't win everything. However all these were putting into the picture, the consequences that would befall, if it were both Devon and Michael.

Now that Devon was dealt with, she didn't plan on going easy with Michael at all. If he tried anything funny with her, he would die, and that was just it.

"What's there to talk about?" Michael asked.

Richelle smiled, but it was wasn't a smile that reached her eyes.

"I didn't say I wanted to talk did I? I made a request," she said.

Michael's eyes narrowed, since she wanted to drop all pretences, then he had no reason to keep holding them.

"If I make a few calls, then I'll be getting quite a good boon on his information, it doesn't matter if Devon affirms it or not, the fact that I was also present, gives me credibility. No matter how uncooperative Devon is, in the end he still has to answer to the council."

Michael went on and about, already making claims and listing benefits she was already aware of. Yeah he could certainly get all that, and even more, and even get their backings to protect him against her, but... Did it matter?

"Do you have something equivalent to the council?" Michael concluded.

Richelle stared at him calmly, then said something that left Michael completely shocked.

"You get to keep your life." She said with finality.

Michael's eyes narrowed, a surge of anger building up within him. "Are you threatening me?"

"Do I look a person to give threats?" She asked calmly. "I am telling you what would happen. Say one word, and you die, it doesn't matter who's backing you have to protect you... On the other hand, you keep your life, with your mouth kept shut."

Michael's aura erupted, his eyes narrowing into vertical slits.

"I dare you to say that again!"

The three teenagers found themselves struggling to breathe, feeling like they were being suffocated under a toxic cloud.

Devon's aura flared in response covering them. However, he made no interest to stand with Richelle. If he were to be honest with himself, he really wanted to see what made Richelle so ballsy.

While she was a very beautiful and intelligent woman with a very devious mind, she was not known to walk any of the three paths of power.

In truth, no one had ever claimed of seeing her show any abilities. Even during expeditions outside Aegis, she only kept records of things... just like an archaeologist would during excavation, never putting herself in danger.

The nickname White witch had not been given to her because of her physical power, but because of her influence that when she actually began to pull on, felt almost like mind control... That, plus her white hair. But there was only a certain level in which influence could drive a person to continuous success.

And at this moment, Devon felt that she was making a mistake trying to win all, especially with Michael. No doubt, she could pull strings to give Michael serious trouble and make him suffer, but even her fiance, wouldn't be able to kill him with the council behind him.

The next second his pupils constricted into pinpricks.

Richelle was standing calmly and undeterred to Michael's malicious aura, that felt like a cloud of poison.

Infact, there was a mocking smile on her face, as she looked at him, as though finding his actions truly pathetic.

"Keep your mouth shut, and you live... Say a word and not even your ancestors would save you." Richelle said, her voice dripping like honey, a contrast to Michael's that was laced with aggression.

Michael as well, was shell shocked. As far as he knew, Richelle was just a normal human that clawed her way up to Elysium, and quickly gained a lot of influence, due to her fiance. Because she spread her legs for a man!

It was inconceivable that she brushed off his aura like it was air. The worst part was that she wasn't even actively doing anything against it. He could even detect the slightest fluctuation of mana from her.

Richelle smiled seeing his reaction. "If you think I'm all talk, then you lack a brain. And if you think my confidence is because of him, then you must be a retard," she said, taunting him even more.

Michael felt his spine tingle in humiliation, and his heart surged with rage. However, as angry as he was, he wasn't a fool, however if he took a step back now, he would lose face, especially before children, amongst which was one he intended to keep as his protege.

Right now, Richelle was unknown territory, it appeared what they thought they knew was wrong. She was powerful. He didn't know how powerful, but she was powerful, to brush off his aura like it was nothing, then perhaps even more than he was.

The moment his mind calmed from rage, he suddenly made a connection that Devon made, the instant he saw how unaffected she was to Devon's aura.

Since she was Sean's sister, didn't that mean she possessed the same bloodline he did? Plus her fiance himself, was a powerful vampire in his own right.

His heart trembled, as he retracted his aura.

"Very well." He said and turned around, signalling Thorne as they prepared to leave.

Her sharp voice however cut through his motion halting his step.

"Even your protege is not exempt. If I as much as hear the slightest rumor of whatever happened here, then not the council, not even God, would be able to save anybody here from me," she warned.

Hearing her words, Michael almost laughed at himself, but the venom in his eyes only intensified. This humiliation... he would make sure to pay back in full.

Perhaps not now, but he would. That, he swore.
