Chapter 37 - [DEM] 37: Alaya

To purify the Blacklight Virus from the bodies of hundreds of thousands in Tokonosu City, Morpheus not only unleashed immense power but also carefully tempered the strength of his Light Power.

He ensured the virus was eradicated without harming the bodies of the countless residents.

Though the process took only a few minutes, the precision required was extraordinary.

It demanded a significant toll on Morpheus's mental energy.

That's why he called it troublesome.

Saeko, unaware of the intricacies, thought it didn't seem that difficult.

But if she understood the mechanics, she'd realize how much effort Morpheus had poured into those few minutes.

It was far beyond what most could endure.

Fortunately, Saeko wasn't foolish. She soon grasped the complexity of the feat.

The idea of purifying the latent Blacklight Virus in hundreds of thousands of people at once was staggering.

Just thinking about it made her scalp tingle.

"You worked hard, Lord Morpheus."

Morpheus waved it off. "It was a bit taxing, but as a deity, isn't it only natural to answer the prayers of my followers?"

In that moment, Saeko felt as if she'd been struck by an arrow.

A wave of unprecedented gratitude welled up within her.

Her respect for Morpheus deepened.

But then, she sensed a powerful presence approaching. Instinctively, she stepped in front of Morpheus, her guard up.

Seconds later, a white-haired man in a red leather coat descended from the sky, landing before her.

Morpheus recognized him instantly.

The agent of Alaya.

The Actualy Satan - Emiya Shirou.

Emiya's appearance didn't surprise Morpheus. Japan's fall, with billions turning into zombies—how could Alaya, the collective will of humanity, remain unmoved?

She would surely dispatch Heroic Spirits to handle it.

What puzzled him was why they failed in the first loop's timeline.

"Who are you?" Saeko demanded, gripping her wooden sword tightly, ready to strike.

Emiya raised his hands quickly. "Calm down. I'm not your enemy."

He had no desire to clash with her. His instincts told him this woman was no pushover.

But the man behind her was even more formidable.

He'd witnessed what just happened—a monster in every sense.

Morpheus nodded, confirming Emiya's words. "He's right. This guy's not an enemy."

Saeko hesitated, then followed Morpheus's lead, lowering her guard and easing her hostility.

Emiya raised an eyebrow and said to Morpheus, "Looks like you know who I am."

"Alaya's agent. Never met you, but I've heard of you."

"Didn't think someone of your stature would know about me," Emiya said with a wry smile. If he had a choice, he'd rather not be famous.

Morpheus got to the point. "So, what brings you here?"

Emiya replied, "The Blacklight Virus. You already know about it, don't you?"

Morpheus nodded.

Emiya continued, "I'd like to team up with you to put an end to the Blacklight Virus issue. What do you say?"

Saeko interjected, "Lord Morpheus has already purified the virus from everyone in Tokonosu City."

Emiya said calmly, "But that's only Tokonosu City. The Blacklight Virus is still in Umbrella's hands. If we don't deal with them, there'll be another Tokonosu City."

"Or maybe next time, it won't be Tokonosu City—it'll be Tokyo."

Saeko fell silent.

Emiya was right. This was all Umbrella's fault.

While the crisis in Tokonosu City was resolved, as long as Umbrella remained, the Blacklight Virus would inevitably spread again.

Morpheus asked curiously, "Why team up with me? Umbrella may be a massive multinational corporation, but your boss is Alaya."

"With Alaya's power, sending a few Heroic Spirits should make Umbrella a non-issue."

Even a fully armed military wouldn't stand a chance against top-tier Heroic Spirits.

Especially Grand Servants—they were terrifying.

Even Emiya could wipe out an entire elite special forces unit.

Emiya explained, "Umbrella isn't as simple as you think. Their higher-ups are aware of Alaya's existence and have made thorough preparations."

"If Alaya deploys Heroic Spirits against Umbrella, they'll detonate the viruses they've hidden worldwide."

"When that happens, humanity will face a catastrophic disaster."

"Even if it doesn't wipe us out completely, it'll deal a devastating blow."

"That's why even Alaya treads carefully around Umbrella, hesitant to act."

Morpheus understood.

In this world, Umbrella might not be Alaya's match, but they held the means to cripple humanity—or even drag it down with them.

So, despite Alaya's ability to crush Umbrella easily, she didn't dare act.

Because Umbrella's leaders were willing to take humanity down with them, while Alaya wasn't willing to risk it.

It was a twisted version of… not letting fine porcelain clash with cheap pottery.

This world's Umbrella had some serious tricks up its sleeve.

To make Alaya wary—impressive.

"So, how do you plan to work with me?" Morpheus asked, intrigued. "You want me to take on Umbrella? Aren't you afraid they'll flip the table?"

Emiya replied, "Umbrella's trump card is their viruses. If you can neutralize the threat of those viruses, Umbrella's nothing."

"I'm hoping you can locate the viruses they've hidden around the world and purify them."

"Then, Alaya will send Heroic Spirits to wipe Umbrella out in one fell swoop."

Morpheus nodded. It made sense.

But finding Umbrella's hidden virus stashes worldwide was no small task.

For their own safety, Umbrella's higher-ups would have concealed those locations deeply.

Locating them would be far more troublesome than purifying Tokonosu City's viruses.

It meant globe-trotting. What a hassle.

Still, Morpheus didn't refuse. He'd grown accustomed to the conveniences of this world's civilized society.

If human civilization collapsed, it would bring him no benefits.
