The next week…
The pale moon light filtered though an old window, sneaking past the wind-blown curtains to cast its glow upon a small room, Himiko's room.
Himiko's room was what one would call orderly chaos...
It was not particularly dirty… it was just that there were far too many stuff.
The tables were completely covered in books, the floor had stacks of them that went three feet up and even her bed had a few.
And yet, if asked, she would claim she had a 'system.'
Her bed was neatly dressed, the light blue bedsheet well tucked by the side of the mattress.
And Himiko was lying belly down, her legs slowly moving up and down as she twirled her hair in her left hand while the other held her phone to her ear.
"So you will be closed for three days?" She asked, sighing deeply.
"More like a four days, but yeah, I have to be at the U.A sports festival." Kyle's voice came from the phone.
At the mention of U.A, Himiko shifted slightly, her mind going to what had happened a few days ago.
'If I had joined the league, then they would have probably been my enemies.'
The path she had been walking was one of a villain, the sworn enemies of heroes like the students of U.A.
Strangely, she felt a little relieved to have left that life behind.
Himiko turned on her bed, facing the ceiling. "What about our Dat—m-meeting?"
A light blush of pink spread across her cheeks when she thought of calling it a date. Himiko had invited him out last week but because of the preparations, they never got to meet.
"Oh oh our date?"
"?!"
Himiko's eyes widened, her blush deepening. 'He didn't even hesitate to say it!'
She nodded her head on habit. "Mmhm…"
Kyle laughter reached her from the phone, followed by an amused sigh.
"We can go on Friday, immediately after the festival. We do have a lot to talk about don't we?"
"We do…"
As enjoyable as their night had been, it had left Himiko with many questions about him, things she would rather not ask over the phone.
There are things she was yet to tell him as well, things like what her quirk actually was and her current living conditions.
But above everything else, Himiko wanted to see him again. "Friday it is!"
"Alright, good night, Miko."
Himiko felt a tingling sensation in her chest. No matter how many times she heard it, that nickname always got to her.
"Good night…"
There was a low beep as the call ended.
Himiko spring up to her feet, her eyes narrowed as she stared at her room.
"This place is a mess!"
Last time, Kyle had dropped her off and her only saving grace was that it was an awkward night, so he left early.
"What if he had come in?"
A shiver ran down her spine as she imagined what his reaction would be.
'I need to clean this place.'
The truth was that she had been pushing this since the very day they had their first date. That was why it was now, late at night that she was cleansing.
She grabbed her broom and began moving from one corner of the room, seeping off the little dirt that was there.
The main problem was the books…
Her expression fell when she stared at the unending stacks. "Maybe I should do it tomorrow?"
"Argh!" She roughly ran her hand through her hair. "No, no more procastinating!"
She walked up to the first stack of books, one so tall that it reached the ceiling and tried to grab it…
"Eek!" Himiko immediately shielded her head with her hands as the tower came tumbling down, some bouncing on her skull.
It took nearly two hours for Himiko to clean up her room, and when she was done, the room was sparkling.
She was laying in the center, her cheeks dusty and her chest rising and falling quickly as she took heavy breaths.
Himiko fist bumped the air. "Finally!"
Knock knock!!
The old wooden door creaked as someone banged their hand against it.
"Huh?"
Himiko was not expecting any visitors, actually, she had never even had a visitor. Coupled with the fact that she had no friends, it was strange that someone was knocking.
Knock knock!
This time the knocking was a bit more impatient, like the person wasn't planning on spending a second longer at the door.
'Is it the old man?'
The single room apartment she was in was part of a hostel owned by a kind old man who allows her to stay while paying little to nothing.
Periodically, he would come to see how she was doing.
"I'm coming!"
Himiko got to her feet and hurried to the door.
She could hear inaudible whispers from the other side of the door, but thought nothing of it as she slipped the key into the hole.
The creaky locks clicked open when she turned the key, and then she pulled it open.
But the moment Himiko saw who was behind the door, she stiffened like a pole, cold sweat forming on her brows.
In front of her was an average height woman with curly blonde hair that fell past her shoulders, and teal coloured eyes nestled with animosity.
Her hand was in the air, about to knock when the door opened so she retracted it.
Next to her was a tall man with a hard face and tan skin from hours of working under the sun. His orange eyes were wary and his beard unkept, just like it always was.
Unwillingly, her body reacted, taking one step back.
Multiple images flashed through her mind in the space of a second. Constant yelling, that look of horror, bloodstained hands—rejection.
Himiko swallowed.
"M-mmom? D-dad?"
Not even bothering to even look at her, her mother brushed past her, entering into the room.
Her father on the other hand met her gaze, a pained look flashing through his face as he let himself in.
