A new day arrived , outside of the palace was bright and sunny after a very long time this morning
But it was exactly opposite in Reinhart room
In a corner of his room reinhart was sitting , his whole body was covered in sweat
He was again and again observing every corner of his room cautiously , eyeing his surrounding like a prey in fear of predator
Reinhart told himself he'd calmed down.
He had calmed down. Or so he thought.
He had spent first few hours of the night , sterling himself but when he went to sleep again then that same nightmare came back
He'd spent hours lying still, breathing slow, counting every heartbeat, every flicker of candlelight on the ceiling — convincing himself that the nightmare will not appear again if he went to sleep
But every time his eyes closed… it came again.
That river of blood.
That man with no arm and too many tentacles.
Those eyes — hollow, endless.
They waited for him on the other side of sleep.
So, he stopped sleeping.
At first, he thought he could outlast it — stay awake until morning, But minutes turned to hours for him. The sound of ticking from the clock felt like a hammer inside his skull.
His hands trembled when he poured water.
His reflection in the glass trembled too.
There were dark circles under his eyes again — he looked weaker, like the life had been quietly stolen from him piece by piece.
He tried some random words just to hear his voice again and escape the silence around him
"Get it together, man ," he whispered to no one. "You survived seraphine training. You—"
The words died.
His gaze drifted to the window — sunlight being block by the curtains of his room . The world outside looked peaceful, soft, unreal.
But his chest felt heavy, too heavy. Like something unseen pressed down on him, slowly, patiently, until he could barely breathe.
He hadn't noticed when his nails dug into his palms
The pain grounded him for a moment.
Then faded, like everything else.
He wondered, quietly, what it would feel like — to sleep again without seeing anything.
No blood, no faces, no screams. Just silence.
For the first time, he felt this much fear
The nightmare was slowly driving him insane
...
Seraphine came to take him to training , he didn't refuse instead he saw it as a moment to enjoy someone's company and to divert his mind from that nightmare
He came in training ground and begin his daily exercise of 100 laps , gymnastics , push up and sit up
And finally 1000 sword swings
But this time it was different, he didn't felt tired as he used to , he was able to complete these tasks efficiently and it was a huge leap
He felt like he could keep going further , he also felt a strange warmth in him
Seraphine even praise him by saying " it was alright "
it was the biggest praise he ever heard
Well , according to him it was a big leap , he went from collapsing after 100 laps to doing everything effectiently and still felt he could keep going
It's been only 2 and a half week since his tranmigration and he achieved this , on earth he might have been called a monster for achieving this growth
Reinhart mainly attributed it to his mana awakening
...
This day ended like that but reinhart felt his mind getting a little clearer
That barbarian called evelyn visited him today too but only to scold him but he enjoyed that
And again his enemy called night came
he felt like crying or calling a servant or even his barbarian sister to accompany him throughout the night , not his dad as he will just scare him more
He again steeled himself and spent this whole night looking out the window , he watched the entire sunrise with his own eyes but today was different, unlike yesterday when time seemed to stretch
Today he felt like time was moving too fast
He again got ready himself , he had already dismissed the maid whose duty was to dress him up
He arrived into his training ground by himself today and began to do training by himself
Seraphine too came sometime later and just observed him throughout his training and later praised him again for his discipline
Reinhart this time felt nothing , perhaps it was not enough praise for him
Later that night he again visited the training ground and continued doing training but he overheard a voice from the garden
He really heard something.
A faint sound from the courtyard garden. Not footsteps. Not wind.
Voices.
He removed his shoes, careful not to make a sound, and crept closer to the source.
Through a gap in the bushes, he saw it — a sight that froze his breath.
Seraphine knelt on the ground, strange glowing runes etched before her, pulsing with gray mana. The air hummed and twisted as she made complex gestures. The runes responded — their symbols flickered and distorted into sounds that clawed at his ears.
She was… communicating with someone.
Reinhart's heart pounded.
Suddenly, her head snapped up.
Her eyes scanned the darkness.
He didn't move. Didn't breathe.
After a tense silence, she turned back to her work again
Reinhart slowly stepped back, ready to leave — but a sudden bark pierced the night. He flinched, stepped on a broken branch.
Snap.
The voices stopped.
A heavy pressure — cold and suffocating — crushed the air around him. It felt like her gaze pierced through the bushes, straight into his soul.
Then — relief.
A guard appeared with a dog, its leash clinking. The moment broke.
maybe seraphine ran away as reinhart thought
Reinhart collapsed. Not out of injury, but exhaustion — his mind finally giving in.
The guard rushed to him, shaking his shoulder. But Reinhart didn't want to wake up.
Because he had no more mental strength left
