After our conversation in his office, I figured the best way to shut down the rumors about our supposed divorce and the abuse allegations was to make a public appearance together.
So, here we were.
A wine tasting event hosted on the private estate of one of Dominic's friends. I hadn't expected any of his inner circle to remain loyal after many scandals tainted his name, but apparently, this one had stuck around. Maybe that made him a real friend, and not one of the social climbers who only hovered when favors were within reach.
Anyway, the purpose of being here was clear: show the world we were still together, still solid, still a force that couldn't be easily broken.
Except…we were doing the complete opposite of keeping things subtle.
Dominic had me pinned to the wall, one hand trapping both of mine above my head, the other gripping my waist, pulling me tightly against him. His mouth trailed down the curve of my neck, lips grazing skin in a way that made my knees weak.
