CLARA
I felt eyes burning holes into my back.
Whipping my head over my shoulder, I saw no one—again. It had been happening for the past hour.
Maybe it was just paranoia. But I wasn't even doing anything wrong. Not like a week ago, when I'd spied on Camilla and Owen, eavesdropped on meetings, and rummaged through files in Owen's office. I hadn't felt half as anxious then as I did now.
Or maybe it really was nothing. I was just overthinking.
I sighed, rubbing at my temple. Leaning against the desk, I shut my eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
"See you tomorrow, Clara," Anna said on her way out.
I offered her a small smile, watching as she headed toward the entrance. The office was nearly empty now. Most people had clocked out for the day, but only a few lingered.
Yes, I was one of the few still here. Not because I enjoyed staying late at the office, but because of Harper.
