Evangeline let out a quiet sigh, the sound barely audible in the stillness of the room. For a moment she wondered if she had been overstepping again, prying into matters that weren't truly hers to question. The thought lingered, but only briefly. Pushing it aside, she quickly shifted to something else that had been weighing on her mind.
"Also… are you really going to leave soon?" she asked, the words coming out faster than she intended.
Hades's eyebrows lifted slightly at the question, a hint of surprise flickering across his face. "And who told you that?"
Evangeline hesitated, her gaze drifting toward the door for just a second too long.
Hades followed that glance easily.
"Cerberus," he muttered flatly. "That dog."
She turned back to him, her expression earnest despite the awkwardness of being caught. "You won't tell me why you're leaving for so long?"
