Chapter 57 - Unfair Justice-II

It felt as if those eyes pierced through wood, shadow, and flesh—all the way to her very soul. Her knees nearly gave out just by meeting Elijah's eyes. Every childhood memory of the gallows flashed through her mind like a cruel omen.

"It would be best for you to hand her out now," Elijah said stiffly. He moved his gaze from the old woman, knowing that this one was determined to hide the criminal. 

But when his gaze fell heavily on Milo and this younger human man immediately crumble from pressure, his hand holding to the wall weakly as if he was trying not to fall. 

"I don't k-know what you have heard but that girl isn't here. We haven't seen her at all," Madam Trevor said with tremors in her tongue, "If that is all you wish to ask, I would ask you to leave now!"

"Hiding away criminal and aiding in their escape would also cause you to be condemned by law," Elijah said without looking at the old woman's face and Madam Trevor could see it.
