President Elias wasn't the type to yell or shout at people immediately.
He wasn't throwing anything or breaking a glass or pace his office like men expected him to.
He sat very still behind his desk long after the screens went dark.
Long after the journalists stopped shouting questions at the cameras.
Long after the aides quietly left the room because no one wanted to be present when the president finally reacted.
Elias folded his hands and breathed once for a bit longer than usually.
Eventually, he smiled.
But…it wasn't the type of smile he gave crowds or the one shaped for flags and promises and fatherly concern.
This was thin and tight and cold, the smile that appeared only when a man decided someone had officially become an enemy.

Not by marrying Theo.
