Yuecheng went for a walk in the small palace garden. It was noon, a warm spring breeze wrapped around him, and the sun was shining bright enough, but not annoyingly so. In the garden, Yuecheng came across his father, Lan Yue.
Lan Yue looked him over from head to toe, then focused on his hand, which looked like it was made of glass.
"I need to know what happened back then. I feel like Yan Mo didn't tell me everything," Lan Yue said.
"I think he explained it the best he could, Dad," Yuecheng answered. "I can't tell you anything better, because even I don't fully understand what happened. I only know that my cousins and I will soon have to face a threat that's going to affect all of us."
Lan Yue looked off into the distance, sadness in his eyes. A stronger gust of wind suddenly swept through, hinting at an incoming storm.
"Your mom's been acting strange lately. She's spending more and more time locked up in the library. She's hard to reach these days."
