Chapter 35 - The Unexpected Kiss

I saw that Khang couldn't take his eyes off it and knew immediately that his craving had flared up again. He hesitated, looking at me and then at the stove. I found it amusing and didn't forget to ladle a bowl for him to try. I scooped a small amount of broth from the pot into a bowl:

"Want a taste first?"

Khang's gaze was captivated by the bowl of soup in my hand. Hearing my words, he quickly nodded, picked up the bowl, and sipped it in small mouthfuls. Fortunately, he remembered to drink slowly; the soup had just been ladled out and was scalding hot, and I was afraid he'd burn his mouth in his haste. Luckily, he also knew to blow on it before drinking.

Khang pursed his lips, looking at me with an enraptured expression. For some reason, this look made me feel a bit strange. He moved closer, his eyes sparkling:

"Phuong, how come I never knew you were such a good cook before?"

I never had a chance to show it when we were in school. Besides, I teased, "We weren't that close."
