"Constantine, you're in charge of looting the corpses."
"Lady Gwendolyn, you're the infantry. You have to remember to leave them on their last breath for me to kill!"
"I will be in charge of drawing the spawned beasts and maintaining the engineering."
"You guys understand?" Asked Maxwell as he swept his gaze past them.
This was the most basic language of online RPG, and it was also the most common strategy.
But…
Constantine stared at Gwendolyn, and she stared back at him. They both then shook their heads like dummies and said in unison: "Don't understand."
"Sir Maxwell, what is looting? What's infantry? What's engineering? How come I can't understand a single thing? Can you say it in a way we can understand it?'
Maxwell helplessly sighed, "Gwendolyn, you will be in charge of attacking the spawned beasts. Constantine, you will be in charge of taking the spawned beasts' mana. I will be in charge of luring the spawned beasts over, so do you guys understand now?"
"Sir Maxwell, if you had said that the first time, we definitely would have understood you." Constantine grinned in a silly manner.
Gwendolyn suppressed a giggle and said, "That's right."
"It's really difficult at times to communicate with someone not of my world," Maxwell said to himself. Right after that, his gaze tensed up, and he pointed in a certain direction as he called out. "A demonic beast is approaching us from there; we'll act in accordance with what I've said."
As his voice faded…
Maxwell leapt out and landed in front of a Metal Skinned Boar. He then bent his finger, beckoning, "Little kid, dinner is right here."
It looked like the Metal Skinned Boar knew what Maxwell was saying. It humphed twice before its forelegs pawed the ground and madly charged at him.
He had gained attention!
Maxwell panicked and started running once he saw those sharp fangs protruding from the Boar's mouth. If he were rammed by its large nose, he would definitely be smashed, flying into the air. As he was running, Maxwell loudly reminded: "It's coming, it's coming! Get ready to attack Gwen!"
Seeing the Metal Skinned Boar chasing Maxwell like crazy, Gwendolyn's gaze tightened. She glared at the silver colored boar and viciously said to herself, "wild beast, you want to hurt my dear Maxwell? Watch me take your life!"
A white light flashed.
"Move away; let me take care of it."
Before she even finished speaking, Gwendolyn had already struck with her sword.
Maxwell immediately changed directions, allowing Gwendolyn's lightning-fast sword to stab into the head of the Metal Skinned Boar.
"Spray!" Fresh blood sprayed out, and a painful grunt noise came out of the Metal Skinned Boar's mouth.
"Oh shit, this sister is truly a bit too powerful."
Amongst all the level 5 bronze rank spawned beasts, the Metal Skinned Boar's defence was probably one of the best, yet a single stab was able to penetrate its head. Her attack power was simply too powerful.
Maxwell was inwardly shocked, and when he saw the angry-looking Gwendolyn, he immediately said, "Quick, leave it with its last breath so that I can make the killing blow."
If she were to kill another one, his experience would disappear again!
It absolutely cannot be so wasteful.
Maxwell rushed forth like a loose arrow and roared out: "Let me do it!"
Gwendolyn stuck out her tongue and leapt off to the side, "Okay, I got it."
The Metal Skinned Boar was growling and howling in pain. Its life was already near the end, and it didn't have the strength to dodge. Maxwell's punch then came crashing down.
"Bam!"
"Crackle!"
"Congratulations to Player Maxwell Gillette for killing a Metal Skinned Boar. Reward: 200 XP, 20 Mana"
"Congratulations to Player Maxwell Gillette for collecting 1 point of Metal Skinned Boar's mana."
"200 XP... A level 5 bronze rank spawned beast truly deserves their name, the rewards are so plentiful! Levelling up to the level 4 bronze rank requires 30,000 XP, which means killing 150 of them will allow me to level up." Maxwell said to himself.
Apart from XP, he gained the most important thing – Mana.
Overdrive consumed too much Mana, so within these three days, he had to accumulate as much Mana as possible. There's most likely a tough battle waiting for him at the Gillette Household confines. As long as he has enough Mana, he wouldn't be scared even if he had to face Fargo again.
"Constantine, this spawned beast will be passed to you now."
"Gwendolyn, give Constantine the Zero storage space that was given to you by the Gillette Household. We'll first fill up yours before we fill ours." Said Maxwell.
Gwendolyn was the main damage dealer, so the head of the spawned beasts should first belong to her.
The Zero storage space was one of the most mysterious pocket dimension storage objects in this game world. The space inside was about the size of a small storage room. All participating members were given one to be used to store the heads of the spawned beasts.
Killing a spawned beast and then cutting off its head was the only way to prove the kill. As long as one killed a level 8 bronze rank spawned beast, they could leave the contest right away and become a senior member of the Gillette Household.
But if one wanted to compete for the first place, then they had to continue killing more spawned beasts.
The rules of the entrance competition, a bronze rank spawned beast below level 5 was worth 1 point, a bronze rank spawned beast above level 5 was worth 5 points, a silver rank spawned beast below level 5 was worth 10 points, a silver rank spawned beast above level 5 was worth 100 points, and a gold rank demonic beast was worth 1000 points…
A below-level bronze rank spawned beast was very common, while an above bronze rank spawned beast was hard to come by within the competition grounds. If one encountered a below silver rank spawned beast, that was equal to death. As for those super-strong beasts above silver and gold rank spawned beasts, they will only appear in the depths of Eden, and they can't appear on the outskirts.
Those spawned beasts at the above silver rank or more had beast cores in them.
The beast cores contained rich mana since this was basically their cultivation essence that had been formed for over a millennium. The price of beast cores was at least 10 times the amount of upgrade elements.
This was an ultimate treasure in the eyes of cultivators, an item that was near impossible to find.
The spawned beasts that had beast cores were all tyrannical existences. A single gold rank demonic beast could flatten the entire Eden City in a day.
In the history of the Gillette Household hunting contest, one had never appeared before because once it did, it would become a devastating blow to the Household.
Gwendolyn didn't take out her zero storage space and said seriously, "I definitely don't want any bloody heads. I can help you kill, but I don't want any. You guys can have it all."
Maxwell looked at Gwendolyn and could tell she was being very serious. He then said, "Constantine, we'll first fill your zero storage space then."
"Got it!"
Constantine picked up the Metal Skinned Boar and took out his blade before cutting down. The moment the head of the Metal Skinned Boar came off, he started sucking all the mana from it.
As the mana entered his mouth, Constantine's face started turning red before becoming normal again in a few seconds.
Maxwell couldn't help but wonder how powerful Constantine's mouth was. Seeing the thirst in his eyes, Maxwell guessed that it wasn't as simple as enjoying the mana. It was almost like it was a carnal desire, just as Maxwell would desire Gwendolyn if she were to be naked before him.
Gwendolyn felt like throwing up from watching, but she didn't say anything.
Time was precious, so Maxwell didn't bother asking questions either. "I'll go scout ahead, you guys follow in a bit."
Maxwell rapidly dashed into the gloomy forest.
Gwendolyn was afraid Maxwell would be attacked by spawned beasts, so she quickly followed after him.
Constantine quickly wiped his bloody mouth with a smile as a brief flash of red light was seen on top of his bald head. The pattern of a demonic-spawned beast appeared on his head, giving off a devilish aura of an ancient beast before disappearing.
---
"Get back, Gwen, let me do it!"
"Bam!"
"Crackle!"
"Congratulations, player Maxwell Gillette..."
"Bam!"
"Bam!"
The spawned beasts were always at the edge of dying before being finished off. Gwendolyn would strike with her sword while Maxwell followed with a punch. Spawned beasts kept dying, and XP continued racking up.
The cooperation between the two became more in sync.
After two hours of nonstop killing, they had already eliminated over a dozen spawned beasts. Not mentioning the abundance of XP, Maxwell's mana was almost at a thousand points! This was too awesome!
If this continued, he would level up within five hours!
Maxwell couldn't help sigh in his heart, "Gwendolyn is simply too amazing!"
