Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

[New fanfic is UP!!]

[Marvel: I Come From Dragon Ball]

With their feelings laid bare, Shun and Miyoko finally made it official—and together, they would guard a secret that could upend their world.

The knot in Miyoko's heart loosened; happiness bloomed across her face.

"Miyoko… this gourmet road into another world is harsh and dangerous. We could be hurt—lose our lives. Will you walk it with me?" Shun asked quietly, eyes steady.

Nestled in his arms, Miyoko nodded hard. "Mm! I will! No matter where, no matter how dangerous—so long as I'm with you!"

That alone was enough.

Shun pulled her close.

After a warm, lingering embrace, they left the room and headed downstairs.

The moment they stepped off the stairs of the Polar Star Dorm hand in hand, the lobby fell pin-drop silent.

Every gaze locked onto their intertwined fingers; the air crackled with curiosity and anticipation.

Yuki—ever the most gossipy and least able to hold it in—blurted the first question, eyes round. "Shun-kun, Miyoko-san, you two are…?"

Shun stopped, faced the bright, curious crowd, and announced without hesitation: "Everyone, let me introduce her properly—Miyoko is my girlfriend."

After a heartbeat of stillness, the dorm erupted.

"Waa! Congrats!" Yuki jumped and clapped, somehow more excited than the two involved.

"Th-that's wonderful, Shun-kun, Miyoko-san!" Megumi beamed.

"Yo! Finally, huh? Congrats!" Soma grinned wide. He might be dense about romance, but even he knew this was party-worthy.

Satoshi—still in that embarrassingly casual apron at home—smiled like a cat. "Ahh, youth~ In any case, congratulations."

One after another, everyone chimed in until the whole dorm was awash in joy.

Miyoko's cheeks flushed pink; shyness lingered, but the smile she wore couldn't be hidden.

Though they were officially together, they agreed not to move in right away.

Shun stayed at Polar Star Dorm; Miyoko would continue living in her off-campus apartment.

That wasn't Shun's push—she brought it up first.

"I already come by the dorm pretty often, and people notice. If I moved in now, it'd cause trouble for you and everyone else," she said softly, holding Shun's arm as they walked the moonlit path beneath Totsuki's trees. "Besides… I need some space to digest what you told me—about the Shokurin Temple, about another world… I need time. As we are now is good."

Shun didn't press. He squeezed her hand. "All right, we'll do it your way… Once things here settle down, I'll take you to the Shokurin Temple."

"Okay!" Miyoko nodded, heart aflutter with awe and anticipation for that mysterious place.

—Time Skip—

After they made it official, Miyoko started showing up at Polar Star much more often.

No longer just the occasional visitor, she was there almost daily—sometimes bringing Shun handmade sweets or stews (always with extra portions for the dorm), sometimes diving into recipe R&D with him in the shared kitchen.

The dorm shifted from teasing and novelty to an easy, everyday rhythm.

"Ah—Miyoko-san, welcome back! What tasty stuff today?" Yuki was always first to bound over, eyes shining.

"Shun-kun is really blessed," Megumi would murmur with a small, envious smile.

Soma, of course, dug in without ceremony every time—taste-testing became a standing appointment.

Miyoko had grown up in a kitchen. She might not yet match the Elite Ten, but she was far beyond the average student. Her flavors were, naturally, on point.

"Mm, this one's great too—Chinese style, right? Huh? There's another box—can I eat that—?"

Before he could, Yuki tugged his sleeve. "Idiot! That separate box is obviously for Shun-kun. You trying to wipe everything out yourself?"

"C'mon, Miyoko-san, try my mixed fritto!" Daigo popped out with a plate of deep-fried goodies. "Fresh from the Polar Star veggie patch!"

"Ah—th-thank you." Miyoko bowed, a bit flustered.

And so, she slipped right into the dorm's current, her solid Chinese-cuisine fundamentals letting her swim circles in the Polar Star kitchen. Friendly sparring matches broke out now and then.

Everyone discovered that the "strong" girl on the surface was all softness and care within—and when she looked at Shun, the support and affection in her eyes practically overflowed.

Life at Polar Star thrummed—harmonious, lively, full of laughter.

But elsewhere at Totsuki, storm clouds gathered over the Nakiri estate.

Erina's condition had worsened by the day.

Ever since that Shokugeki, since tasting Shun's "Magical Mapo Tofu," her God Tongue had grown even more exacting—her standards now ruthless. Ordinary dishes turned to cardboard on her palate, flaws magnified beyond bearing, leaving her physically uncomfortable and irritable.

"Erina-sama, please—eat a little at least…" Hisako hovered over a barely touched breakfast, worry etched on her face.

The table was lined with exquisite plates crafted by Totsuki's top chefs. Even so, Erina couldn't bring herself to lift her chopsticks.

"Take them away. All of them! The flavors are too jumbled—I can't eat this!"

She shoved the tray aside, pressing her throbbing temples.

Her complexion had gone pale; the dark circles beneath her eyes betrayed too many nights without rest.

In this state, the curse of the God Tongue only accelerated.

Worse, an important Shokugeki loomed.

Her opponent: the Fermentation Research Society's head, Shigeharu Kajiyama.

A third-year master of myriad fermentations, capable of crafting flavors with explosive complexity and impact.

He'd set his sights on an Elite Ten seat for a long time. The stakes this time were huge: should Erina lose, both her prestige and resources would take a serious hit.

Given her current condition, calmly constructing a dish to counter Shigeharu's high-intensity fermented profiles was out of the question. Even judging his flavors objectively would be difficult.

The dorm sang with warmth and harmony.

At the Nakiri estate, the winds of a storm began to rise.
