Athena didn't seem to hear him fully. Her body continued to twist and press against his, shivering, moving as if it had a will of its own. She didn't realize the tears streaming down her face, didn't realize how fragile she looked. She just pressed closer, hands running over him, gripping at him as though holding onto something solid to stop herself from falling apart.
Eryx tensed immediately, every muscle in his body coiling. He tried to pull back, tried to get her to still her movements, but she clung to him as if she would melt without him.
"Princess… stop… breathe," he said, voice strained, his hands resting lightly on her arms to try to steady her. "You've been drugged… you're not thinking clearly."
