The door was locked, so Theo ripped the latch with one hand, and they both walked in. The inside was a small backstage area filled with props. It was dimly lit and quiet, completely hidden from the outside.
Finally safe.
She helped Zeke into one of the chairs in the room and turned back to get something to wipe his lips when he grabbed her hand.
"Don't go," He breathed hard, his voice hoarse.
"I need to...,"
"Don't go," He repeated.
"Alright," She said and sat down next to him.
Her hands trembled as they clasped over his. His eyes were red from pain, and his body was getting colder by the second. Without a second thought, she took off her sweatshirt and threw it over his head, leaving her with the white shirt she had under it.
She was so scared of what was happening to him, "Zeke," She called, her lips quivering, "What's wrong with you? What's going on?"
"I need to sleep," He breathed raggedly again.
