Chapter 52 - Chapter 51: HAHAHHAHAHAHA!

(Attendance… plz…)

….

The ground in the forest was shaking. One hundred and ninety thousand was not a small number.

With them moving together, destroying whatever came in their way, a tremor could be felt deep in the earth every time they marched and took a single step in unison.

Trees were trampled, rivers were dried up, even water didn't escape their hunger. The very earth was trembling as they moved.

Their hunger erased everything other than just hunger itself.

At the very front of this endless army that stretched and stretched on the ground was a massive, hulking beast of an orc.

It was twice or maybe thrice the size of a normal adult orc, his muscles rippling and enormous. Compared to his size, normal orcs looked like children.

He wore an armor made from the scraps of the conquered, pieced together after destroying and eating his enemies, or whatever came in front of him.

His eyes didn't see any other reason for existence other than the hunger and erasing that hunger.

His eyes were burning for only hunger and erasing that hunger and nothing else. One could understand why he was considered a legend in the forest, an Orc Lord… a calamity.

They were marching with the unmatched strength and momentum of a natural disaster of a forest. Nothing stood in their way. Nothing could stand in their way.

That was until something, or to be exact, someone did.

They were marching as usual when, from the sky, a brilliant white light-like entity descended in front of them. It was like a meteor when you see one appear in the sky and make a wish.

Maybe this was their wish…

It crashed into the earth, making the ground it landed on crack and fracture. The impact sent the surrounding air blasting out in all directions… directly toward the orcs, causing many in the front to close their eyes while many didn't even bother.

But it did what many were unable to do: they halted. A confused halt, but a halt nonetheless.

Dust and debris swirled in the air. And it settled as fast as it came. But it was no star or thing. But a single figure standing at the epicenter. It was a human.

A man with fiery red hair as it blew with the air around him, with his pristine white uniform that seemed almost offensive in its cleanliness, not even gathering dust from the ground or the surrounding mud or soil.

He stood calmly, one hand resting on the hilt of his sword, staring up at the front of the massive Orc Lord without any fear.

The Orc Lord looked down, his eyes narrowing at the tiny figure compared to his own massive one.

It didn't even see anything threatening and considered the one in front of him as food instantly, with the intention of devouring him too.

The figure introduced himself. "I am Reinhard van Astrea. The successor of the Master Swordsman. Here to end your march once and for all. This must end now." Even though small, his voice was heard clearly by the Orc Lord and the orcs beside him.

The Orc Lord, like he was expecting something else, turned around, looking for something as he turned his head to look around or in the sky. But nothing was there.

The Orc Lord said, "Where… is… your… army?"

The Orc Lord was expecting an army to come now to fight them, as no one sane enough would come alone.

Reinhard said, "They…" and just as he said that, a ruckus erupted around in the way back in the army as orcs went flying and were being killed… he continued, "are there."

The Orc Lord said again, "Where are others?"

Reinhard said, "If you meant 'here' with me against you all. I'm alone." He said it casually like there was nothing wrong with it.

The Orc Lord stared down at the insignificant white dust that stood in his way.

Hunger gnawed at his gut, a constant, driving ache, but for a moment confusion too clouded him.

A human… alone? Against him? Against his army with those pitiful numbers?

Yup, against an army of one hundred and ninety thousand, the number that didn't even come into his sight, just nonsense.

The Orc Lord said, "Human… you are food?"

Reinhard said, "I am not food. Your hunger has consumed so much. That you are attacking all inhabitants of the forest indiscriminately, that you are ending and endangering all the lives in the forest."

Reinhard took a breath as he said, "Stop… and surrender yourself. That is all I can give you."

Reinhard didn't flinch. He didn't even draw his sword yet. He just stood there, a solitary beacon of calm against a backdrop of monstrous rage. "I am saying it again… surrender yourself and stop this stupidity of yours."

The orcs behind the Orc Lord growled, their food apparently talking.

The Orc Lord said, "Hahahaha! Apparently the food is talking. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!"

The smell of fresh meat in front of them was driving the orcs behind the Orc Lord into a frenzy as they marched forward, intended to devour whoever first reaches him.

Hundreds upon hundreds were running towards the human that was standing at a distance.

Reinhard looked at them as he said or muttered to himself, "So that is what you have chosen, huh?"

The sword on the other side of his hip. He drew it upon the oncoming frenzy of orcs that were intent on devouring him.

Reinhard took his stance as he gathered magicules into the sword. The surroundings were brightening up slowly, not so much that it was slow but that anyone could notice.

When it was done, it was like the world had lost all its color and only white remained, not even air or sound escaping. A single clean arc.

The running-in-frenzy orcs that were charging at him didn't just stop; they were erased. A line of invisible force extended as a high sound-pitched voice sounded.

In an instant, the mist, the weather, and everything was cleared in an instant. In an instant, all the orcs that were charging at him were nowhere to be seen… not only that, a few thousand or maybe tens of thousands of orcs, including the Orc Lord whose more than half body was gone as he stood with his wide eyes, but he was still standing.

And in an instant, Reinhard was in front of him. Even with his half body gone, his regeneration kicked in instantly as it began to regenerate while his other half body with the big axe weapon raised his hand and then striked at Reinhard.

Reinhard didn't try to dodge it. He caught it with his bare hand. The weapon that was more than twice his size with his bare hand. And then dug his fingers in it, instantly breaking the axe. It cracked and broke.

He pulled the axe a little before it broke as the Orc Lord stepped forward.

With his weapon gone, he went with his bare hand.

And Reinhard dodged it simply as he jumped in the air in front of the Orc Lord's face and with a spinning kick, he beheaded the Orc Lord in an instant as his head detached from his body and crashed to the other side of the forest with a single kick.

The Orc Lord's body falls on the ground with a thud.
