Chapter 170 - Return — The Champion’s Moment of Glory!

Shrek Academy, main gate.

It was close to noon, still class time.

The entrance of Shrek Academy was unusually quiet.

The small vendors who usually gathered here were nowhere to be seen today.

In front of the massive gate tower stood four people.

At the very front were none other than Yan Shaozhe, Dean of the Martial Soul Department, and Xian Lin'er, Dean of the Soul Tool Department.

Behind them stood Vice Dean Cai Meier of the Martial Soul Department, and Vice Dean Qian Duoduo of the Soul Tool Department.

All four deans had arrived together—an undeniably imposing lineup—yet there were no other teachers accompanying them.

They all slightly raised their heads, gazing toward the distant sky, waiting in silence.

Finally, faint black dots gradually appeared in the far-off heavens. Under their watchful eyes, the figures slowly descended.

"They're back." A smile immediately appeared on Yan Shaozhe's face.

Xian Lin'er also took a step forward.

"They're finally back."

Clear excitement shone in her eyes, and for once, she didn't argue with Yan Shaozhe as she usually did.

One figure after another gently landed on the ground.

The first to enter their sight was the unkempt Elder Xuan.

Following closely behind were Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong, Ma Xiaotao, and the others…

"Children, welcome home." Yan Shaozhe strode forward to greet them.

Everyone first paid their respects to Elder Xuan, then stood before the Shrek team that had returned laden with honor.

Ever since the main squad members had returned severely injured, no one had been able to feel at ease.

Especially after Elder Mu decided that Shrek would compete in the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Douhun Tournament with a crippled lineup—their hearts had been filled with anxiety.

They all knew very well that this tournament was never completely safe; casualties occurred in almost every edition.

Sure enough, the team sent by the Sun Moon Empire had nearly been wiped out!

The four deans shook hands with everyone in turn, then personally led them back into the academy.

A small boat had already been prepared at Sea God Lake.

The group looked at one another, surprise evident in their expressions, as they glanced at the deans.

Yan Shaozhe smiled faintly and said,"You've given so much for the academy, entering the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Douhun Tournament with a crippled lineup and still claiming the final championship."

"This achievement will be permanently recorded in Shrek Academy's history. By decision of the Sea God Pavilion council, your rewards will be bestowed within the Sea God Pavilion on Sea God Island."

At these words, everyone except Huo Yuhao was utterly shocked.

The Sea God Pavilion was not only Shrek Academy's highest deliberative body, but also its true treasure vault—where all of the academy's secrets were kept.

Normally, no one other than the Sea God Pavilion elders and the four deans were allowed to enter.

Being permitted to step inside the Sea God Pavilion was an extraordinary honor.

At the very least, Ma Xiaotao and Ling Luochen had never heard of any students being granted such access before.

Not even the seniors who had won the previous All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Douhun Tournament had received such treatment.

Sea God Lake was vast—larger than all the remaining areas of Shrek Academy combined.

After more than fifteen minutes of travel, passing through layers of mist, they finally began to see the island clearly.

Sea God Island appeared to be about two square kilometers in size. Rather than flat, it resembled a small mountain, dotted with various pavilions and towers.

When these structures—usually hidden within the mist—appeared clearly before the outer court students, the excitement in their eyes grew even stronger.

Though everything here was unfamiliar, to them, it was equally legendary.

Sea God Island was exceptionally quiet, as if no one lived there at all.

Everything felt peaceful and serene, like a paradise removed from the world.

Pavilions and towers were concealed among towering vegetation, elegant and refined.

Most of the plants here were at least a thousand years old. Some trees even reached heights of a hundred meters. Walking along the paths, the air was fresh, and the dense greenery blocked their view, giving them the feeling of "not knowing the true face of Mount Lu, only because one is standing within it."

Before long, they followed the path to near the mountaintop, where a pavilion came into view.

It was a three-story building, brown in color, entirely wooden, ancient and weathered.

Upon closer inspection, the wood itself seemed to possess an oily sheen.

The building stood only about ten meters tall, lacking any sense of grandeur or majesty.

However, directly above the entrance to the first floor hung a black plaque bearing three gilded characters that proclaimed its identity:

Sea God Pavilion.

Upon seeing these three words, everyone instinctively felt a sense of solemn reverence.

Judging by its location, the Sea God Pavilion was not only near the summit, but also at the very center of Sea God Island.

Yan Shaozhe stopped in front of the pavilion, bowed respectfully, and said,"Teacher, they've returned."

The word teacher shocked everyone.

Even Ma Xiaotao and Ling Luochen, inner court disciples, wore expressions of disbelief.

Although Ma Xiaotao was Yan Shaozhe's disciple, even she had no idea that Yan Shaozhe still had a teacher!

This was…

As the Dean of the Martial Soul Department, Yan Shaozhe held an extremely high status in the hearts of the inner court disciples.

Even Elder Xuan, due to the nature of his position, was not as influential to the students as Dean Yan.

Yet they never imagined that Dean Yan's teacher was still alive.

"Come in," an aged voice sounded.

Immediately afterward, a scene that left everyone utterly stunned unfolded.

Before their eyes, the previously unremarkable three-story Sea God Pavilion suddenly lit up without warning.

Brilliant golden light erupted, instantly turning the entire building gold, as if it were constructed from pure gold.

Rich yet gentle golden radiance drifted downward, enveloping everyone present.

The aura of light nourished each of their bodies, and the fatigue accumulated from travel vanished in an instant.

The Dragon God bloodline within Huo Yuhao also responded in resonance.

The one who felt it most deeply was Wang Dong. His entire body radiated translucent golden light, harmonizing with the sudden brilliance—especially his left arm, which turned completely golden.

That pure gold hue seemed so vivid it was almost dripping.

Bathed in the golden light, the members of the Shrek team—including Wang Yan—subconsciously closed their eyes.

Huo Yuhao, however, maintained the resonance for only a single second before disengaging.

The purity of his Dragon God bloodline far surpassed that of Mu En's martial soul.

As Huo Yuhao waited for the others, the terrified voice of the Heavenly Dream Iceworm suddenly rang out in his mind:

"Yuhao, are you about to be slaughtered? That aura is terrifying!!!"
