Josh didn't want to waste time, so he asked, "Then why didn't you run away? Did something unexpected happen later?"
The little monkey had a look of frustration on its face: "Later, the octopus took Fuer on a long journey, and when they returned, they brought back a mermaid. The mermaid's power is terrifying, and we were no match. We had no choice but to be brought back..."
The lion looked at Josh and said coldly, "Don't think that just because you're the same kind as Fuer, she'll spare you. Fuer is a madwoman; those half-dead beast tamers were once her trusted followers, and later, weren't they turned into dolls by her using the mermaid's power, becoming creatures neither human nor ghost?"
Understanding flashed in Josh's eyes, so that's how these dolls came to be.
The little monkey said, "Those beast tamers tried to betray her because she went on a long trip with the octopus, and this is their punishment."
