Chapter 250 - Chapter 250: Go shopping with me

[What's going on? I thought it was already insane that Gym Leader Grey has a Legendary Pokémon—how is there another Trainer with a Legendary too?]

[They said normal people might not even see a Legendary once in a hundred years—so how are these two catching Legendaries like it's eating and drinking?]

The viewers were openly jealous.

Online, there were countless clickbait accounts that swore an ordinary person could spend their whole life without ever seeing a Legendary up close.

And yet—

After one livestream, they had just watched two Trainers who owned Legendary Pokémon.

It left them green with envy.

They were all Trainers, so why could these two catch Legendary Pokémon?

Grey aside—he really had been hunting Team Rocket nonstop. Maybe he'd built up a mountain of good karma before he finally caught one.

But what was the deal with this Trainer named Brandon?

How did he have a Legendary too?

"Since Brandon invited me, I'll definitely find time to come over and visit."

Grey answered with a bright, easy smile, then invited him right back. "Compared to your Battle Pyramid, my Fighting Dojo is the one that's shabby."

"If you don't mind, after you finish your business, want to come here first for some tea? We can talk in depth, then head over to your place afterward."

"Gym Leader Grey, that's very thoughtful, but I don't know how long my business will take. I'll contact you once I'm done."

A faint smile appeared on Brandon's face.

Even with Legendary Pokémon, Grey's attitude was steady—neither arrogant nor overly humble.

Brandon liked dealing with Trainers like that. Conversations were comfortable, and he didn't have to worry about keeping a stiff face and scaring the other person off.

"Let me guess—Brandon, were you also invited by Silph Co.?"

The moment Grey heard Brandon had business to handle, Silph Co. was the first thing that popped into his mind.

Other than that, there really wasn't much that made sense.

It definitely wasn't for the Gym Leader selection battles.

Brandon wasn't even a Gym Leader. There was no way.

"Also? Looks like you were invited by Silph Co. as well."

Brandon instantly caught the key word in Grey's sentence.

That "also" meant Grey was the same as him—someone Silph Co. acknowledged as worthy.

"Yeah. I got invited after I dealt with Team Rocket's base in Celadon City."

Grey scratched the back of his head, quietly thinking about what the Trainers he knew had in common—everyone who had been invited so far.

Giovanni, Steven, Brandon.

On the surface, the three seemed unrelated.

But in reality, they all had massive backgrounds.

Champion-level.

Even though the public kept guessing where Giovanni ranked in the League, within the upper-level database it was clearly recorded that Giovanni had champion-level strength.

Within the Kanto League, he was guaranteed top five.

Then there was Steven—his identity was no joke either.

He was the heir of the Devon Corporation and Hoenn's current Champion.

Most days he preferred mining. He didn't like handling company or League affairs.

And third was Brandon, the Battle Pyramid's Frontier Brain.

He didn't like the spotlight—he just liked piloting the Battle Pyramid around wherever he pleased.

And his strength was also champion-level.

That was beyond doubt.

As for Grey… he was the only one who was barely touching Elite Four level for now.

Compared to the other three, his raw strength was still a step behind.

[Is Silph Co. about to do something big? They're inviting so many heavy hitters to visit the company!]

[Yeah! Even Steven got invited—what is this, a tea party for legends?]

[Inviting the big shots for afternoon tea? That'd be hilarious.]

The chat kept guessing why they were being invited.

Given Silph Co.'s scale, there was no way they were inviting Trainers at this level for no reason.

And even if they did invite people, they wouldn't invite so many at once.

That was four huge names all together!

And who knew if there were other hidden big shots who hadn't shown themselves—maybe even more would be there in person.

Neither Grey nor Brandon gave any answers to the speculation.

It involved Silph Co.'s secrets, and it was better if too many people didn't know.

"Ahem… how about we talk about something else?"

Grey quickly changed the subject.

They chatted for about half an hour, and the audience listened with great interest the whole time.

Once they set a time to meet and parted on good terms, the call ended.

"Alright, that's it for today's stream! Thanks for watching, everyone~"

Grey glanced at the time—it was almost mealtime—so he ended the broadcast.

"What a great day—half of it is already gone! Tomorrow we finally get a day off!"

After stopping the stream, Grey stretched lazily.

The week was basically over. Tomorrow was Saturday, and he really should give himself one proper day off.

"You figured out where you want to go?"

Sabrina spoke up suddenly.

In the past, Saturdays never worked out for them.

Last Saturday they were arresting Team Rocket. The one before that, Grey was still on the S.S. Anne.

Basically, they never got a real rest.

It was like Grey had some kind of grudge against Saturdays—every time one came around, he was either hunting Team Rocket or on the way to hunt Team Rocket.

"You know… I actually don't think I have any ideas."

Grey shrugged helplessly. The excitement that had been burning in his chest got doused instantly by Sabrina's question.

He'd been looking forward to Saturday for so long, but now that it was finally coming… he didn't even know where he should go.

"Then come shopping with me tomorrow."

Sabrina said it suddenly. Noticing Grey's expression, she added, "I-it's… just so you can get familiar with the routes ahead of time."

"Shopping with you is fine…"

Grey scratched his cheek, looking out the window at the blue sky first, then down at the bustling city streets. "But…"

"Rio!" (What do you mean 'but'? I'm going out for barbecue tomorrow. You're going whether you like it or not.)

Riolu walked over with a "ferocious" face and glared at Grey like it was trying to intimidate him.

"What, you're craving food, so you're craving food—don't start ordering me around."

Grey scooped Riolu up and gave its cheeks a hard squeeze.

He only squeezed a few times, though.

If he was being honest, Riolu's cheeks didn't feel as good as Green's.

Green's cheeks—those were truly satisfying to pinch.

"…Bumiao, what temperature is the AC set to? Why do I suddenly feel a chill?"

Sitting in the audience seats, Green shivered, thinking it was the air conditioning.

But when she checked, it was only 24°C. As if she'd realized something, she looked at Grey—and saw he was looking right back.

The two locked eyes. Grey made a little "pinch pinch" gesture with his fingers.

"…Hmph!"

Green turned her head away and refused to talk to him.

If she said another word, she'd probably get her cheeks pinched again.
