Maya was so sleepy her eyes wouldn't stay open. She had the words of rejection on her lips, but they never came out.
Because she remembered that in the storyline, the original character wouldn't directly reject Yolanda Sawyer. Every time, the original character would deliberately try to please and comply, but most of the time it resulted in good intentions paving the way to a bad outcome. Coupled with the contrast to the female lead Kiki Monroe, the original character naturally became less appealing in Yolanda Sawyer's eyes.
"...Okay, I'll go to the office and check on him."
Yolanda Sawyer's voice was filled with even more laughter, and her tone gentler, "Then I won't take up your time. Pack up and go check on Ian. Oh, and Kiki, it's been a while since you came to visit this old lady. Ever since Eric moved out, the old house feels empty. Grandma misses you; come by when you have time."
Maya readily agreed, and the moment the call ended, she went right back to sleep on the bed.
