Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Brother-in-Law Doesn't Look So Well

At this moment, it felt like a dream. Someone who left six years ago was now standing right in front of her, alive and well.

Her sudden reaction left Sean Shawcross a bit shocked, with an expression of confusion on his face.

After a moment, he reached out to pat her head and then said with a smile.

"Silly girl, I just went out of town for a month, haven't I already come back now."

As soon as he spoke, he noticed a cold gaze sweeping over him. He looked up, glanced at the owner of the gaze, paused for two seconds, and then asked.

"Brother-in-law, you seem a bit pale. Are you not feeling well?"

Noah Drexler kept his lips tightly pressed and didn't speak. Instead, he looked with a somewhat displeased expression at Summer Shawcross, who was still holding onto Sean and refused to let go. His handsome and cold face clearly showed some signs of displeasure.

...

"It's just as well that you're here, I have something to tell you." Sean Shawcross put away his smile and suddenly looked seriously at Summer.

Hearing what he said, Summer finally looked up, tears streaming down her face.

Sean lowered his head, leaned close to her ear, and whispered a sentence.

"Be careful of Dustin Hughes."

Sean's words made Summer pause.

At this moment, she finally understood who was trying to harm her brother...

Is it Dustin Hughes, because her brother discovered something, right?

"Alright then, I've got something to do out of town, I'll take you out for a good meal when I'm back." Sean glanced at the time on his watch, then turned to open the car door again.

Seeing this, Summer hurriedly reached out nervously to grab his arm.

"No! You can't get in that car!"

Seeing her so anxious, Sean's expression was somewhat puzzled.

"I dreamed last night that the brakes on your car failed..." Seeing Sean's confusion, Summer quickly made up an excuse and said nervously.

Hearing this, Sean didn't take it seriously. He just smiled and casually said,

"It's just a dream. It seems you haven't been resting well lately. Remember to rest early."

Seeing him dismiss it, Summer got anxious and gritted her teeth, "Anyway, you can't get in that car!"

Since she could prevent the tragedy from happening, she was determined not to let anything happen to her brother again!

At this moment, Noah Drexler, standing by, also noticed something was off and glanced at Sean Morgan beside him.

"Check it out."

"Yes!" Sean Morgan nodded and promptly got into the driver's seat.

Just as Summer was about to stop him, the car had already started, but it was moving slowly, just sliding forward gently.

After moving no more than two meters, the car came to a gentle halt.

Soon after, Sean Morgan opened the car door, got out, and whispered to Noah Drexler.

"Boss, the brakes have failed!"

At Sean Morgan's words, Sean Shawcross also showed a look of surprise.

"How can that be? I just drove it yesterday."

"We'll have to wait for a detailed inspection to find out what caused it." Sean Morgan glanced at the car with failed brakes and then said,

"That's the only way. I'll just take a cab for today to run errands." Sean nodded, then glanced a little way off, where a taxi was approaching and gestured to stop it.

The taxi slowly pulled over. Just as Sean was about to turn and get in, he realized that Summer was holding his arm tightly, not letting him leave.
