Camilla slept for almost eighteen hours straight.
I'd stayed in her room for the first few hours, sitting in the chair by her bed and watching her sleep just to make sure she was really here, really safe.
Raizel had come to check on me twice, gently suggesting I should rest too, but I couldn't bring myself to leave. Not yet, not when I'd just gotten her back.
Eventually exhaustion had won and I'd fallen asleep in the chair. When I woke, Raizel had covered me with a blanket and Camilla was still sleeping peacefully, her face relaxed in a way I hadn't seen in the brief moments before she'd collapsed into bed.
Now she was finally awake, sitting up in bed and eating the breakfast I'd brought her with an appetite that suggested she hadn't eaten properly in days.
"This is good," she said between bites of bread and cheese. "Better than anything Father's cook made.. well, except Mari's."
I smiled, settling into the chair beside her bed. "How are you feeling?"
