***Cadiz***
I woke to the feeling of cool cloth being pressed against my forehead.
My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the dim light of Raizel's chambers. He was sitting beside the bed, his face drawn with worry and exhaustion, when he saw I was awake, relief flooded his expression.
"You're back," he said quietly, taking my hand. "You've been unconscious for hours."
I tried to sit up but my body protested immediately, every muscle ached like I'd been beaten, and my head throbbed with a dull, persistent pain that made me wince.
"Don't move too quickly," Raizel said, helping me settle against the pillows instead. "You pushed yourself too hard out there, the healers said you drained yourself to the point of magical exhaustion."
Magical exhaustion, I'd read about it in the old texts, the consequence of using powers beyond your body's ability to sustain them. It could take days to recover fully.
"How long was I out?" I asked, my voice coming out rough and dry.
