Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Who Has Time to Tangle With a Dog Right Now?

The next morning, Li Xiang, who had been excited all night, felt a bit sleepy.

But under the command of the alarm clock, he got up, washed up, and regained some energy before taking the bus to work.

His commuting vehicle is the No. 22 bus, and he keeps his monthly commuting costs within 50 yuan, which isn't high.

After a bumpy ride to the police station, Li Xiang was fully awake.

There were no special tasks today, so he was on standby at the station, and soon he was faced with a unique situation.

Sun Zhidong walked over with an excited face: "Xiang, are you busy now?"

"What's up?"

"The station just received a report. The property management at No.1 Courtyard called saying there's a mad dog in the community biting residents. Their security can't catch it, so they called us to handle it!"

Li Xiang wasn't interested when he heard that. Tasks like this, without direct leadership assignment or detailed requirements, don't form official assignments, and thus no rewards: "All day long, these trivial matters need to be reported to the police, really a waste of police resources. Can't you just go yourself?"

"It's no fun going alone. Come with me, will you?"

"Just you? Without a police officer accompanying?"

Li Xiang was a bit surprised, as both he and Sun Zhidong were auxiliary police officers, not qualified to act alone, as they don't have enforcement power. Normally, a police officer would accompany them.

"The station is so busy at the end of the year, who has the time to tussle with a dog? The instructor asked me to handle it myself."

After hearing Sun Zhidong's explanation, Li Xiang rolled his eyes dramatically.

He couldn't help but internally complain: You're always idling around, just have time to tussle with a dog. The instructor has sharp eyes to see your talents at work.

Thinking about it, Li Xiang became even more reluctant. He replied: "What did you ask me first?"

"Are you busy now?"

"I'm very busy, no time."

"But the instructor asked me to bring you along!"

Li Xiang: "..."

Sun Zhidong looked at him innocently, stifling a laugh, especially seeing Li Xiang at a loss, which made him even more amused.

Seeing Li Xiang looking constipated, Sun Zhidong pulled his arm towards the parking lot: "Let's go, you've been shooting fixed targets all year. Let's try a moving target to show you my archery skills."

Hearing this, Li Xiang stopped in his tracks, pulling Sun Zhidong back: "Wait a minute, are you planning to bring the bow? Does the instructor know?"

"He knows. He's the one who asked me to bring a bow and arrows."

Police officers can use guns to fight mad dogs, but without guns, they have to think of other ways.

Sun Zhidong's hobby is archery, and his bow is a Compound Bow, not under the management of the public security organs.

He is also a member of an archery club, and as an amateur, his archery skills surpass the average person's. Now that there is a chance to test it, he is naturally enthusiastic.

At this point, Li Xiang finally understood why the instructor wanted him to accompany Sun Zhidong to catch a mad dog, purely to ensure Sun Zhidong doesn't go overboard.

Understanding the instructor's intentions, Li Xiang resigned himself to fate, got into Sun Zhidong's private car, and went together to No.1 Courtyard.

"Let me tell you, recently I've been shooting in the club, arrow after arrow hits the bullseye from 20 meters away, feeling terrific. Just wait and see."

On the way, Sun Zhidong was incredibly excited, boasting about his extraordinary archery skills in the car.

This time, disposing of the mad dog and benefiting the people, he finally found a place to showcase his heroism.

Shortly after Li Xiang and the others left, Lin Feifei arrived at the police station driving her red Panamera.

As soon as she got out of the car, her natural star quality immediately caught everyone's attention.

Lin Feifei lowered her sunglasses and glanced around at the people observing her in the courtyard, not finding Li Xiang among them, so she walked into the reception hall, just in time to meet Hou Min, the police officer who assisted her yesterday.

"Excuse me, did Li Xiang, who helped me find my phone yesterday, come to work today?"

Having her phone returned saved Lin Feifei from a major concert incident, avoiding significant financial losses, and leaving her very grateful to Li Xiang, wanting to repay him somehow.

After going home last night, she told her assistant about it, wanting help on how to thank her benefactor.

Initially, the assistant thought there was no need to repay, as catching thieves is a duty of police. Moreover, even if she wanted to thank him, regulations at his workplace wouldn't allow him to accept gifts, suggesting a commendatory banner instead.

Lin Feifei thought a banner was a good idea but felt it was too simple, still feeling uneasy. As for treating him to a meal, she had already offered last night, but he declined.

To give money seemed tacky.

After discussing, they decided to give him two concert tickets instead so he could bring his girlfriend to watch her concert, which wouldn't violate any regulations.

So, this morning she brought a hastily made banner and concert tickets to the police station, wanting to thank Li Xiang face-to-face.

"Li Xiang and the others just went on a mission. You might have to wait a bit for them. If you're not in a hurry, you can wait for them."

Hou Min recognized Lin, the lady who reported yesterday, and seeing the banner in her hand, assumed she was there to give it to Li Xiang. However, Li Xiang was currently absent.

"Well, I'll wait a while. Mainly I wanted to give him this banner today and thank him properly!"

Seeing Li Xiang was not there, Lin Feifei squeezed the banner. In fact, she had another appointment with a brand partner, thinking she would complete her visit after giving the banner but now found it ill-timed.

While waiting, Hou Min brought the incomplete lost property return procedures from yesterday, asked Lin Feifei to finish signing them, and poured her a cup of water.

After signing, Lin Feifei waited a bit longer in the lounge, during which she frequently looked at her watch and the door, becoming increasingly anxious as the appointment time with the brand partner approached.

"It's getting late."

Unable to wait any longer, Lin Feifei picked up the banner and returned to the reception hall to find Hou Min.

"I have another meeting, and I'm running out of time. I'd like to give this banner to Li Xiang, who helped me reclaim my phone yesterday, and there are two tickets inside. Could you please pass them on to him for me? I'll come back to thank him in person next time."

"Alright then, leave these with me. I'll make sure he gets them when he returns."

Li Xiang couldn't receive the banner and take a photo himself, which Hou Min found a bit unfortunate for him. After all, in the police station, auxiliary police officers rarely receive banners from citizens. It now depended on whether she would come back. If she did, they could retake the photo.
