His tone was frantic yet oddly determined. He tightened his hold on the man's leg, refusing to let go no matter how hard the man tried to wrench him away.
"I'll serve drinks diligently, sir!" he repeated, this time with a pleading edge, his voice nearly breaking. "I won't ever sleep on duty again!"
The red-haired man stared down at him with his fiery brows pulled low. His lips curled with both anger and disappointment as he growled, "That's what you always say. But every damn time, you end up slacking off again. You don't just sleep....you've even tried to run away several times." His voice grew colder. "If you weren't my sister's son, I'd have killed you long ago. Instead, I kept giving you second chances. And how do you repay me? By fucking it all up every single time."
