Chapter 148 - Chapter 148

"They… must be having some problems." Shiromeguri Meguri's gaze drifted away, her voice soft and evasive.

Yes — the brown haired the girl was the lovely and gentle Shiromeguri Meguri.

"Even if the Student Council currently has nothing to handle, as members, they have the responsibility to show up. Starting this afternoon, inform them that they must come to the Student Council office during lunch break. If they can't comply, ask them to withdraw from the Student Council."

Hiratsuka-sensei's tone was stern and uncompromising.

"I… I understand." Meguri replied weakly, shrinking slightly under Hiratsuka's sharp stare.

"You, the Student Council President… Forget it, I won't say anything more. It's not easy for you either." Hiratsuka-sensei sighed as she looked at Meguri.

She wanted to say more, but she also understood Meguri's gentle and timid personality.

It was never easy for her to manage the council.

Her expectations could only go so far.

"Sensei… who is this?" Meguri finally noticed Akira, who was standing quietly beside the teacher, as she asked cautiously.

"He is the future Student Council President. You've been saying you want someone to take over your duties, right? He's the one." Hiratsuka-sensei patted Akira Fujimiya's shoulder lightly.

"Really? That's… great!" Meguri's eyes brightened instantly.

Her expression was that of someone who had been trapped in an jail for too long and suddenly heard they could finally be released.

"Hello, my name is Fujimiya Akira." Akira greeted politely.

"My name is Shiromeguri Meguri, it's nice to meet you." Meguri stood up and bowed slightly.

"From now on, he will serve as Vice President. Your task is to familiarize him with the daily work of the Student Council. Then—"

Hiratsuka-sensei briefly explained the tasks of the two.

Akira listened silently, calm and unmoved.

Meanwhile, Meguri frantically took a copy that she can find in the room and started taking notes, afraid she might forget something important.

Just as the explanation was nearing its end—

Grrrrrrr—!

Meguri's stomach growled loudly.

Akira glanced at her.

Meguri's face reddened in embarrassment, and she lowered her head like a shamed puppy.

She has not eaten anything, yet.

"Alright. If you have any questions, just come to me." Hiratsuka-sensei pretended not to hear anything.

As she turned and spoke to Akira one last time, patted his shoulder, before leaving the Student Council office.

The door closed.

Meguri carefully raised her head again.

"Fujimiya-kun… you probably haven't eaten yet, have you? If you don't mind… I could share my lunch with you." She asked nervously.

"No need. I'll ask my girlfriend to bring something over. First, I want to review the club information and budgets records." Akira declined gently, as he asked.

"It's all here." Hearing that, Meguri quickly opened a drawer and took out a thick document, handing it to him.

"....You organized all of this yourself?" Akira flipped through the pages, noticing everything was neatly handwritten.

"Everyone submits reports to me… I just summarize them." Meguri replied softly, nervously.

"I see." Akira said and continued reviewing the documents.

There were not many major clubs at Sobu High.

Only a few required annual budgets, such as the Football Club and Tennis Club — The football team, although never placing in competitions, demanded the highest budget.

There were also minor interest clubs—like the obscure Service Club—that required no funding and only had a room to gather in.

Overall, Student Council work wasn't heavy.

It just needed someone competent enough to keep things moving.

"Fujimiya-kun… Student Council work isn't difficult. It just takes time some time to adjust to it. I can help you for a few more months. After the Cultural Festival… I'll have to start focusing on exam preparations." Meguri whispered nervously.

"To be honest, I'm not very interested in being Student Council President." Akira closed the document slowly.

"Ehh?" Meguri froze.

"But I know someone who would be more than willing to take that seat." Akira changed topics casually.

Half an hour later — Student Council Office.

"Are you interested in becoming Student Council President?" Akira looked at Isshiki Iroha, who seemed completely confused buy the situation.

"S-Senpai… what did you just say?" Isshiki blinked rapidly.

"I believe you're perfectly qualified for it. You can start as Vice President. By the time the Cultural Festival arrives…" Akira repeated Hiratsuka-sensei's earlier proposition, presenting it like a rare opportunity.

"Why me…?" Iroha looked moved, but still uncertain.

"You are the most competent underclassman I know. I believe in you." Akira placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"Senpai… how many underclassmen do you actually know?" Isshiki squinted in suspicion.

Akira leaned closer and whispered in her ear.

{T/N: Devil whisper}

As soon as she heard his words, Isshiki's expression lit up like a lamp.

"I'll do it! Absolutely!"

"Very good. I'll teach you all about Student Council work."

Akira then picked up the club budget forms again, explaining operations and procedures to Isshiki.

By the time lunch break ended, Isshiki finally left.

Akira and Meguri were the last ones to step out of the office.

Meguri looked up after a brief hesitation.

"Akira-kun… what did you tell Isshiki-san earlier?"

"I said I'd personally pay for a sofa, a refrigerator, fruit, and desserts for the Student Council office."

"..!!!"

Meguri's eyes widened in disbelief.

Before that surprise melted into sincere expectation.

She looked at Akira as if he were some kind of savior.

Akira chuckled slightly when he noticed her expression.

"Meguri-senpai, I have a suggestion…"

....

Afternoon — Student Council Office.

Meguri stared nervously at Akira seated confidently in the president's chair.

While—Isshiki sat in another chair, playing with her phone, occasionally glancing at him with excited anticipation.

Not long after—

The office door swung open.

"President, about this lunch break meet—"

A black-haired girl stepped in, but her words halted when she saw Akira sitting in the main seat.

"It was my idea to hold a lunch break meeting. As Student Council members, attendance is required." Akira said calmly.

"And who exactly are you?" the girl frowned, clearly annoyed.

"Fujimiya Akira. New Vice President." He replied without hesitation.

"Vice President?" She raised an eyebrow as she looked at Meguri, demanding an explanation.

"It was Hiratsuka-sensei's decision…" Meguri replied timidly.

"Even so, we all have things to do. The Student Council doesn't even have work most of the time. Why should we waste our lunch break here?" The black-haired girl glared at Akira.

"Just because nothing is happening now doesn't mean it will stay that way. If you can't accept that, please sign here." Akira slid a document toward her.

She blinked, at his sudden action.

Then slowly moved forward to check the paper.

"Withdrawal Application from the Student Council…"

"The other two have already signed. You are the last." Akira reminded.

Sure enough, she saw two other withdrawal forms already signed.

She looked at Akira. Then at Meguri. She understood immediately.

Without another word—she signed.

"Thank you. Isshiki" Akira thank the woman before called out to Isshiki.

Isshiki stood up, holding a neatly wrapped box.

"Senpai, this is your gift." she said sweetly.

"Gift?" The girl blinked again, confused.

"The other two senpai received game consoles. Yours is headphones." Akira explained.

She opened the box a little—recognizing a high-end model worth tens of thousands of yen.

"This is my personal gift to you. It serves as an apology for any disrespect I've shown. Please accept it." Akira bowed politely.

"But… this is far too expensive…"

"Senpai, the others already accepted theirs. If you don't accept it, Akira-senpai will feel bad." Isshiki urged, pushing the gift closer.

The girl hesitated—then nodded, clutching the gift tightly.

"Then… thank you."

"As long as you like it." Akira smiled gently, straightening up.

She blushed, shyly pulling out her phone.

"Um… c-can we exchange contact—"

"Sorry. My girlfriend gets jealous easily. She might get the wrong idea."

Akira refused instantly.

Her movement froze—then her cheeks turned even redder.

"I see… Well, if you need anything in the future, I'll help."

"I'll definitely need your assistance during the Cultural Festival. Thank you in advance." Akira responded with a confident smile.

She nodded quickly, before saying goodbye and left the room, nearly skipping away with her headphones.

As soon as the girl left, Isshiki turn and stared at Akira with admiration.

"Senpai, you're incredible… Not only did you make all three resign willingly, but they're even grateful about it."

"This is something you'll need to learn later." Akira replied calmly.

"I can't learn that… Senpai just spent hundreds of thousands of yen like it was nothing. I would never dare spend money like that." Isshiki sulked, think about her finances.

"Your understanding still needs improvement." Akira sighed.

Ring Ring—

The Student Council office phone rang.

Akira picked it up.

"Excuse me, did the Student Council order a refrigerator and sofa?" The security guard sounded puzzled.

"Yes. Please bring them to the office. Payment has already been processed." Akira said.

The guard paused, then simply said he would bring the delivery team up.

Akira hung up and stood.

"The refrigerator and sofa are here. Let's go help move them."

"Yes, Senpai!"

"Okay, Akira-kun!" Meguri added eagerly.

Both girls were thrilled.

Sobu High's Student Council office had always been cold and bare—only desks and chairs.

A refrigerator and sofa were unheard of.

Before buying anything, Akira had checked with Hiratsuka-sensei, who had given her approval.
