Chapter 225. Evil HERO Combo Breakdown! A Stronger "Evil" Line of Play!
Duelists across every world aren't fools.
Just by looking at these effects and how they link together, they've already realized the Evil HERO cards give the HERO strategy some solid new routes.
More importantly, this builds on combos HERO already runs.
For example, Elemental HERO Stratos.
The Spell Card A Hero Lives.
Or the Vision HERO package.
These have already laid the groundwork for HERO's basic lines.
And with these new Spells and Traps—Evil Assault, without a doubt—there's even more room to extend plays.
In the GX world, after going over the new cards, Jaden Yuki was already excited.
Supreme King Jaden is, after all, another "evil" persona of his.
And HEROes are one big family.
Buffs to these cards also mean buffs to his Elemental HERO core.
"I wonder if there are combos for these Evil HERO cards?"
"If there are, watching them should make the lines of play much clearer, right?"
Beside him, Aster Phoenix narrowed his eyes.
His expression barely changed, but inside he already wanted to see what these Evil HERO cards could do.
Fortunately, the short video covered more than just the Evil HERO upgrades.
The second half was exactly what everyone was waiting for: Evil HERO combo breakdowns.
Evil HERO Player: "After covering the Evil HERO buffs—"
Evil HERO Player: "Next up is my breakdown of Evil HERO combo lines."
Evil HERO Player: "Heads-up: this is just my current understanding of Evil HERO."
"If any masters have more insights, post them in the comments!"
"First, the 'A Hero Lives' pseudo one-card line."
"Activate A Hero Lives, pay half your LP, and Special Summon Elemental HERO Stratos from the Deck."
"Stratos triggers to add Evil HERO Adusted Gold from the Deck."
"Send Adusted Gold to the GY to search the Spell Evil Assault."
"Activate Evil Assault, discard 1 card, and Special Summon Evil HERO Dead-End Prison from the Deck."
"Dead-End Prison's effect sends Elemental HERO Shadow Mist from the Deck to the GY."
"Shadow Mist triggers to add Vision HERO Vyon from the Deck."
"Tribute Stratos to Tribute Summon Vyon."
"Vyon triggers; place Vision HERO Increase from the Deck."
"Increase triggers; Tribute Vyon to Special Summon itself."
"Increase triggers again to Special Summon Vision HERO Vyon from the Deck."
"Vyon sends Destiny HERO – Malicious to the GY."
"Vyon banishes a GY Vyon to add Polymerization from the Deck."
"Link Summon with Vyon and Increase."
"Arrows confirmed—Link-2: Xtra HERO Cross Crusader."
"Cross Crusader revives Destiny HERO – Malicious from the GY."
"Cross Crusader Tributes Malicious to add Evil HERO Sinister Necrom from the Deck."
"In the GY, banish Malicious to Special Summon the second Malicious from the Deck."
"Malicious and Cross Crusader Link Summon again."
"Arrows confirmed—Link-2: Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer."
"Infernal Devicer reveals Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman in the Extra Deck to add Elemental HERO Neos from the Deck."
"Activate Polymerization to fuse Neos with Sinister Necrom."
"Come forth—Elemental HERO Sunrise!"
"Sunrise triggers to add Miracle Fusion."
"Activate Miracle Fusion, banishing Stratos and Shadow Mist to Fusion Summon."
"Descend—Elemental HERO Flame Wingman – Infernal Rage!"
"Infernal Rage adds Favorite Contact."
"Infernal Rage Tributes itself to Special Summon Winged Kuriboh LV6 from the Deck."
"Winged Kuriboh LV6 and Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer Link Summon."
"Link-2: Xtra HERO Wonder Driver."
"In the GY, banish Evil HERO Sinister Necrom to Special Summon Evil HERO Infernal Rider from the Deck."
"Infernal Rider adds Dark Fusion."
"Activate Dark Fusion, fusing Dead-End Prison and Infernal Rider."
"We summon Evil HERO Inferno Wing – Backfire."
"After resolution, add the negation Trap Dark Supremacy."
"In the GY, Winged Kuriboh LV6 banishes Elemental HERO Flame Wingman – Infernal Rage to Special Summon itself."
"Xtra HERO Wonder Driver Sets Miracle Fusion from the GY."
"In the GY, banish Evil HERO Infernal Rider; add Super Polymerization from the Deck and Set it."
"With two cards Set, end the turn."
After watching the full line, duelists across every world were stunned into silence.
They stared, slack-jawed, at the showcase in the short video.
For a moment, they were completely lost in this brand-new Evil HERO combo.
The only part they could follow was the Stratos + Vision HERO sequence.
Everything after that lost them entirely.
So this is the new era of power Evil HERO brings.
Duelists who already understood Evil HERO responded with calm and thoughtfulness.
For example, in the 5D's world, they don't play HERO, but Yusei Fudo and the others like to study Decks.
Just from this line, they grasped most of it.
"I see—this package adds supplementary pieces on top of the existing framework."
"One is Super Polymerization, the other is the Evil archetype's negation Trap."
"So if your opening hand is cracked, your board should be even bigger!"
Yusei Fudo's eyes gleamed.
He knew this was essentially a pseudo one-card combo.
HERO's lines just got several steps stronger.
In the GX world, with deep familiarity with HERO and listening closely, Jaden and the others realized exactly where Evil HERO's strength lies after watching this combo.
"So the maximum board is—"
"Destiny HERO – Plasma + Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer + Dark Law, and, if possible, multiple Evil HERO monsters."
"In the back row, Super Polymerization + Dark Supremacy + Favorite Contact."
"Nice. Nice."
"If we can actually reach that setup, HERO's power is already respectable."
Realizing HERO's possible max board, Jaden's eyes burned brighter.
He hadn't thought it through before.
Once he did, he startled himself with that first-turn setup.
For breaking boards, there's Super Polymerization.
For effect negation, there's Dark Supremacy—potentially multiple negations.
For aggression, other HERO monsters step in.
Even more possibilities are opening up.
Evil HERO Player: "Next is the new card Evil Assault pseudo one-card line."
"Activate Evil Assault, discard 1, and Special Summon Evil HERO Dead-End Prison from the Deck."
"Dead-End Prison again sends Elemental HERO Shadow Mist."
"Shadow Mist adds Vision HERO Vyon."
"Normal Summon Vyon; send Evil HERO Sinister Necrom to the GY."
"Banish Sinister Necrom to Special Summon Evil HERO Infernal Rider from the Deck."
"Infernal Rider adds Dark Fusion."
"Activate Dark Fusion, using Dead-End Prison and Infernal Rider to Fusion Summon."
"Evil HERO Inferno Wing – Backfire."
"Inferno Wing – Backfire adds Dark Supremacy."
"Vyon banishes Dead-End Prison in the GY to add Polymerization."
"Inferno Wing – Backfire and Vyon Link Summon."
"Link-2: Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer."
"Infernal Devicer reveals Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman."
"Add Elemental HERO Neos from the Deck."
"Activate Polymerization, fusing Neos in hand with Infernal Devicer on the field."
"Elemental HERO Sunrise."
"Sunrise adds Miracle Fusion."
"Activate Miracle Fusion; banish Neos and Shadow Mist from the GY to Fusion Summon."
"Elemental HERO Flame Wingman – Infernal Rage."
"Infernal Rage adds Favorite Contact."
"Infernal Rage Tributes itself to Special Summon Winged Kuriboh LV6 from the Deck."
"In the GY, Evil HERO Infernal Rider banishes materials to add Super Polymerization; Set it."
"It's not hard to see—Evil Assault also becomes a way for HERO to extend."
"The only pity is that it only Special Summons Evil HERO monsters."
"If it could Special Summon any HERO, it'd be several times stronger than A Hero Lives."
"Maybe they restricted it to avoid undercutting A Hero Lives."
"But here's the key—A Hero Lives can't be searched, while Evil Assault can."
"That's why Evil Assault is a bit more valuable."
"For example, the Vyon pseudo one-card line."
"Normal Summon Vision HERO Vyon; send Elemental HERO Shadow Mist."
"Shadow Mist adds Evil HERO Adusted Gold."
"Discard Adusted Gold to search Evil Assault."
"Nice—the extension is stable again."
"That's the upside of Evil Assault."
After hearing the Evil HERO Adusted Gold + Evil Assault two-card line, the Duel Worlds fell silent again.
Laid out like this, Evil Assault's benefits are indeed better than A Hero Lives.
Putting everything else aside, the fact that Evil Assault is searchable already makes it more usable.
More importantly, A Hero Lives is best when you're at low LP.
If you open A Hero Lives going first at 8000 LP, that line is just painful—starting 4000 LP behind your opponent.
Who can stand that?
Evil Assault may be narrower than A Hero Lives, but it doesn't ask for half your LP—and that's enough.
Evil HERO Player: "Next is the Stratos pseudo one-card line."
"We Normal Summon Elemental HERO Stratos."
"Stratos adds Evil HERO Adusted Gold."
"Send Adusted Gold to add Evil Assault."
"Evil Assault discards 1 to Special Summon Evil HERO Dead-End Prison."
"Dead-End Prison sends Destiny HERO – Malicious from the Deck."
"Malicious banishes itself to Special Summon the second Malicious."
"Link Summon with Stratos and Malicious."
"Link-2: Xtra HERO Cross Crusader."
"Cross Crusader revives Malicious, then Tributes it to add Vision HERO Vyon."
"Dead-End Prison and Cross Crusader Link again."
"Link-2: Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer."
"Infernal Devicer reveals, then adds Elemental HERO Neos."
"Vyon discards Neos to Special Summon itself."
"Vyon brings out Increase; Increase Tributes Vyon to Special Summon."
"Increase brings out Vyon; Vyon sends Destiny HERO – Denier."
"Vyon banishes to add Polymerization."
"Increase and Infernal Devicer Link Summon."
"Link-2: Xtra HERO Wonder Driver."
"Destiny HERO – Denier Special Summons itself and returns the banished Malicious to the Deck."
"In the GY, Malicious banishes itself to Special Summon the Malicious you put back."
"Activate Polymerization."
"Fuse Denier and Malicious to make Destiny HERO – Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer."
"Wonder Driver returns Polymerization from the GY to hand."
"Activate Polymerization again; fuse Vyon and Wonder Driver to Summon Elemental HERO Sunrise."
"Sunrise adds Miracle Fusion."
"Activate Miracle Fusion; fuse Sunrise and the GY Cross Crusader to Summon Wake Up Your Elemental HERO."
"Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer targets itself and Wake Up Your Elemental HERO; destroy them and send them to the GY."
"Wake Up Your Elemental HERO Special Summons Elemental HERO Shadow Mist from the Deck."
"Shadow Mist adds Mask Change."
"That way, on the opponent's turn, we can make Masked HERO Dark Law plus Destiny HERO – Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer."
"It's not hard to see—whether we're advancing the main plan or pivoting, Evil HERO supplies reliable resources and operations for HERO."
"But again, this support doesn't make HERO end boards absolute."
"Even with a monster like Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, once it hits the GY it could get banished by a trap."
"As for other lines, we'll only know once the new Evil HERO cards actually enter circulation."
"That's all for my line sharing—thanks for watching.
See you next time."
After that final Stratos pseudo one-card line, and with these three routes laid out, duelists across the worlds finally understood Evil HERO's plan.
In other words, the key pieces are just a handful:
Evil HERO Dead-End Prison + Evil HERO Infernal Rider.
Evil HERO Inferno Wing – Backfire + Dark Supremacy.
Evil Assault equals extension.
Meanwhile, the Dark Law + Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer line is another idea.
It looks strong on the field, but compared to the other route you lose Super Polymerization and the Evil Trap.
Without Favorite Contact, your first-turn strength drops a lot.
Even so, no one is lowering expectations for HERO.
Remember: these are only pseudo one-card lines.
If your hand has more live pieces, the end board will absolutely be stronger than what you just saw.
For example, hand traps like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Maxx "C", and Infinite Impermanence all reinforce HERO's first-turn setups.
Going second, Fusion Summoning Evil HERO King of Neos is basically a board-breaking "bruiser."
Its resistances can also preserve your chance to survive the opponent's turn.
Add Sunrise, and your damage ceiling won't be low either.
So this is the "lubricating" effect Evil HERO brings, huh.
