Chapter 129 - Chapter 129. A Hodgepodge of Sacred Beasts, Egyptian Gods, and Aesir! Odin Goes Off under Maxx “C”!

Chapter 129. A Hodgepodge of Sacred Beasts, Egyptian Gods, and Aesir! Odin Goes Off under Maxx "C"!

Only at this moment did duelists across every Dueling World fully, completely understand the win condition of Qardan the Clear-Sighted.

And precisely because they understood it, the very next beat was—

every world exploded with chatter!

DM World.

Yugi Muto blinked and silently read through the card text of Qardan the Clear-Sighted word by word.

When he finally finished, he still couldn't help but draw a deep breath and exhale slowly.

"Effect 1" and "Effect 2" would be decent inside their own archetype.

One searches.

One adds materials.

But the focus is that Special Victory condition of this card once it piles up 10 materials!

Huh?

There are this many bizarre cards that can achieve a special win?

Among the old guard, they had thought Holactie the Creator of Light and Exodia were pretty much it.

And yet now—

another card with an extremely harsh special win condition pops up!

Ten materials!

In a flash, even Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler were trembling all over.

That's way too hard!

Hard—yet someone actually pulled it off!

ZEXAL World.

Even Yuma Tsukumo and Astral could confirm they had never seen something as outrageous as Qardan the Clear-Sighted landing a win by reaching ten materials.

"Damn! Such a brutal condition—and he still managed it! I get it now! He's a madman!"

"Yeah, a ten-material Xyz Monster… it's the first one I've ever seen in my life! That's textbook-level, right?"

"His Deck is way too complicated. I'm still dazed after watching all this. The more archetypes you jam in, the crazier the antics, huh!"

"Can someone tell me—how many special win cards are there? Let me broaden my horizons!"

While a crowd of Xyz duelists marveled at how impossible a ten-material Xyz is to run into, their interest in special win cards only grew.

Just how many cards out there have even the possibility of a special victory?

5D's World.

Bruno wore a helpless expression at the final result.

The TG and Cosmic Blazar combo they fired off this time was actually quite good.

But who would have thought—

one Dark Ruler No More would just erase every effect across the board.

That led to TG and Blazar's cooperation failing to achieve what it should have.

"What a shame. Really, what a shame."

"86 LP. Barely a flickering candle in the wind—just 86 LP left!"

"All that and…"

Bruno looked conflicted, his voice full of frustration.

Who could have imagined it?

A duelist sitting at 86 LP actually turned the tables.

"This is the fate among duelists, I suppose."

"Sometimes that key draw at the crucial moment is mysteriously aligned with the final outcome."

Beside him, Yusei Fudo spoke calmly.

For him, the biggest takeaway this time was learning a new special victory formula and its card combo.

Main World.

Sei Yuki couldn't help feeling sentimental.

After all, Lyrilusc + Qardan isn't exactly easy to assemble.

And Qardan the Clear-Sighted's special win is hardly common.

It's fundamentally an entertainment build; compared to meta decks, there's still a big gap.

If earlier resources hadn't already been exhausted on both sides,

and the D-player hadn't held back until the end, who knows how it would have gone.

"Whew. Let me see."

"What's the next short video?"

After a bit of searching, Sei Yuki quickly locked onto a pure "for-fun shenanigans" Deck.

The title read: "Ragnarok Math for That Grass! Do you dare defy the true gods—12 God Cards?"

"OK! This one."

"I want to see what these so-called twelve God Cards are all about."

Decision made, the short video began to play.

Duel info appears.

12 Gods Collection vs The CEO Who Doesn't Shuffle.

LP for both: 8000.

12 Gods Collection: "Alright! Today we're playing a pure entertainment high-level monster Deck!"

12 Gods Collection: "If you see That Grass Looks Greener in my hand, you already know what's coming!"

12 Gods Collection: "But don't be hasty! Before my turn starts—"

"I'll set That Grass face-down!"

"I activate the Spell Card Destruction!"

"I discard the three cards in my hand to the Graveyard!"

"I draw three cards from the Deck! Then I flip my set Spell!"

"That Grass Looks Greener!"

"Come on! I'm just gonna yeet this Deck!"

The CEO Who Doesn't Shuffle: "I activate Maxx 'C'!"

"By discarding it, every time you Special Summon a monster this turn, I draw 1 card!"

That turn-one "yeet the Deck" opening immediately drew every world's gaze.

Having recovered from the Qardan special victory, duelists now watched with curiosity as the "That Grass" mill started to stack cards into the Graveyard.

The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode?

Slifer the Sky Dragon?

Raviel, Lord of Phantasms?

Yubel?

Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite?

…Huh?

Hold up, hold up.

Something feels off with these mills.

Wait.

What are these cards! Gods! Sacred Beasts! Yubel!

And a bunch of other mysterious stuff from who-knows-what!

Joey Wheeler: "What the—?! What's he even playing? That Grass just milled a whole lot of 'oh no'!"

Jesse Anderson: "Er… in any case, I didn't see Holactie the Creator of Light. Thank goodness! Otherwise I'd really worry about what's coming next!"

Zuzu Boyle: "But what Deck is this even? The more I look, the more lost I get!"

Yusei Fudo: "I think I glimpsed a familiar engine… Not sure if it's the few cards I'm thinking of."

The chat erupted.

Even though the milling went by in a blink, they still picked out all kinds of absurd, terrifying cards.

Which only deepened the confusion.

This guy—

what on earth is he trying to do?

Back in the video. The Grass is done; the ignition points are ready.

12 Gods Collection: "I activate the effect of Diabolica the Draconique General in the GY!"

"When this card is sent to the GY, I can add 1 Fiend monster from my GY to my hand!"

"I add Dark Beckoning Beast!"

"I then activate the effect of Qardan the Clear-Sighted in the GY!"

"When this card is sent to the GY, until the end of the next turn, my face-up Continuous Traps can't be destroyed by my opponent's effects."

"I banish Chaos Summoning Beast from my GY to search the Sacred Beasts' Field Spell, Fallen Paradise!"

"I activate Field Spell Fallen Paradise!"

"Next I play Monster Reincarnation, discarding the Trap The Revived Sky God!"

"I target Qardan the Clear-Sighted in my GY to add it back to hand, and chain Link 2 with Transaction Rollback in the GY!"

"Chain Link 2 resolves—I pay half my LP, and Transaction Rollback copies the GY The Revived Sky God!"

"So, the monster I'm going to Summon—"

"No! The God Card I'm going to Summon is that one!"

"Here we go! Slifer the Sky Dragon!"

"Then both players draw until they have 6 cards in hand!"

"Chain Link 1 resolves; I add Qardan the Clear-Sighted to my hand."

Even though the moment they saw That Grass, many had already guessed this would involve God Cards,

seeing Slifer the Sky Dragon descend again still made every veteran duelist shudder.

A God Card is a God Card.

Even if it's been nerfed, the divine pressure is still there.

12 Gods Collection: "My turn isn't over!"

"I activate the Continuous Spell Opening of the Spirit Gates!"

"As its activation search, I add the monster Raviel, Lord of Phantasms – Shimmering Scraper from my Deck!"

"'Spirit Gates' effect 3—since I control a Level 10 monster, I add the Continuous Spell Millennium Revelation back from my GY!"

"I activate Millennium Revelation, discarding The Winged Dragon of Ra – Immortal Phoenix; then I add Monster Reborn from my GY to hand!"

"I Normal Summon Qardan the Clear-Sighted; its effect sets the Continuous Trap Awakening of the Sacred Beasts from my GY, and it can be activated this turn."

"I flip Awakening of the Sacred Beasts and resolve its effect; because I control a Level 10 monster, I add the Continuous Trap Double Hooking back from my GY!"

"I continue with Opening of the Spirit Gates—I discard Plaguespreader Zombie to Special Summon Summoning Beast from my GY!"

"Summoning Beast activates; I Tribute it to Special Summon one of the Sacred Beasts from my Deck!"

"Descend—Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder!"

"Fallen Paradise activates—draw 2!"

"I return Opening of the Spirit Gates to my hand; then I Special Summon Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite from my GY and take 400 LP damage!"

"I Link Summon with Qardan and Zephyros!"

"Link-2: Armillyre, the Starleader Dragon!"

"I activate Glow-Up Bulb in the GY; send the top card of my Deck to the GY and Special Summon it!"

"Screw Hedgehog also revives from the GY!"

"Armillyre's effect Special Summons Dark Beckoning Beast from my hand!"

"Dark Beckoning Beast and Screw Hedgehog form an overlay network!"

"Two Level 2 monsters!"

"Xyz Summon! Number 29: Mannequin Cat!"

With that series of Sacred Beast plays, the board only grew more bewildering for duelists in every world.

You thought it was an Egyptian God Deck—

but it was actually a Sacred Beasts Deck.

You thought it was a Sacred Beasts Deck—

but it turned out to be some bizarre Link + Xyz mash-up.

And on top of that, other pieces came from a slew of different engines.

Wait.

What even is he playing?

What a hodgepodge.

No—

call it complicated.

The ingredients are way too complicated.

The fact that this Deck can even move… is wild.

Right then and there, Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo, and the others sighed from the heart.

That Grass Looks Greener is too strong.

One card—

and you mill your way straight into midsummer.

12 Gods Collection: "Mannequin Cat effect—detach Screw Hedgehog; I Special Summon your GY Maxx 'C' to your field."

"Then I use Mannequin Cat again to Special Summon Ivaldi of the Nordic Smiths from my GY!"

"Ivaldi searches the Trap Nordic Relic Svalinn!"

"Ivaldi plus one—Link Summon: Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant!"

"Gullveig activates; I banish itself, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and Glow-Up Bulb!"

"I Special Summon from my Deck Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant, Alviss of the Nordic Alfar, and Ivaldi of the Nordic Smiths!"

"Level 4 Alviss plus Level 4 Ivaldi plus Level 2 Tuner Valkyrie!"

"The final Synchro Level equals 10! He who rules over gods and men—the supreme deity!"

"Come forth! Odin, Father of the Aesir!"

Numb.

Everyone went numb.

Duelists from all six worlds stared, dumbfounded, at the on-screen duelist's insane line.

One turn—

and the Deck's whole engine pivoted three times.

Then the Nordic engine kicked in…

and more than a few duelists felt their scalps tingle.

Yusei Fudo: "Impossible! That's the Aesir! Impossible! Does their world also have God Cards for Synchro?!"

Yugi Muto: "Huh? I don't quite understand what you mean, Mr. Fudo. Aesir? Are you saying this Odin is also a God Card?"

Jaden Yuki: "No way, seriously? I thought the Egyptian Gods and the Sacred Beasts were enough! There are gods in the Synchro world too?"

Yusaku Fujiki: "It's a 4000-ATK body with an effect that's basically near-immortal. It's got presence. Personally, I'd say it's got more table presence than Slifer."

In the chat, Yusei immediately shared Aesir info.

All of 5D's World completely lost their cool seeing Odin.

They banished Slifer the Sky Dragon, pulled materials, and then Synchro Summoned—

and the result was a Synchro God Card.

As the other veterans listened to Yusei and the 5D's duelists, they learned there were two other Aesir cards in the line:

Thor, Lord of the Aesir and Loki, Lord of the Aesir.

And this Odin is the head of the three.

12 Gods Collection: "I send Millennium Revelation to the GY to use its effect!"

"I set three cards and end my turn."

The CEO Who Doesn't Shuffle: "In your End Phase! I activate The White Stone of Ancients in my GY!"

"I Special Summon Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon from my Deck!"

"Then its effect adds Chaos Form from my Deck!"

The turn is about to pass to the CEO who doesn't shuffle.

Because of Card Destruction earlier, Blue-Eyes cards in the GY were already primed to refill resources.

And his hand—

one card, two cards, three cards…

How many?

How many are there?

Nobody could even count them.

Every duelist watching cracked on the spot.

At that moment, they realized something even scarier—

because he had used Maxx "C", and his opponent had Special Summoned like crazy,

the CEO who doesn't shuffle had drawn through half his Deck.

Which means—

right now he's dueling with half a Deck in hand.

Seeing that, the old guard snapped.

"Good grief! Now that CEO really isn't shuffling—he's holding at least a third of his Deck in hand to duel!"

"Just goes to show—Maxx 'C' is still disgusting. With that much resource, I wouldn't even know where to start."

"I can't even imagine. With the turn passing to the CEO, who knows how terrifying his board will be with a handful of everything!"

"Er… Odin won't stand his ground here, even with Hamon beside him."

The chat flared up again.

Looking at that hand that could barely be held, many duelists wore openly envious faces.

At the same time, Maxx 'C' was once more enshrined as a legend in the hearts of veteran duelists.
