"A four-thousandfold increase in strength? Truly remarkable!" Whis murmured, still observing the scene through his staff. "To think a mortal Saiyan could achieve such an advanced form without divine ki."
"It turns out this is the form he reached after transforming into a Great Ape!" Son Goku exclaimed, staring at Lin Hao in astonishment. "No wonder his body has red fur so this power comes from mastering that primal state!"
"Hah!" Vegeta crossed his arms, a smirk tugging at his lips. "So that's the secret behind it. A transformation born from the Great Ape form, refined through control and consciousness, hm? In that case…"
Vegeta's eyes gleamed with sudden realization. He had just found a potential path beyond Super Saiyan Blue. If Super Saiyan Four was the perfected balance of primal power and reason, then his royal Saiyan blood might hold the key. After all, he was the Prince of Saiyans born to command the Great Ape form at will.
"Huh? Vegeta, why are you laughing like that?" Goku asked, tilting his head in confusion.
Vegeta chuckled darkly. "You don't need to know, Kakarot. Just remember this.soon, I'll surpass both you and Lin Hao."
"Eh?" Goku blinked blankly. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Lin Hao sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "It's simple. Vegeta figured out that if he can tap into the Great Ape's power without losing control, he can evolve into Super Saiyan Four as well. Since he's always been able to maintain his rational mind in his transformations, for him, achieving it should be much easier than it was for you, Goku."
"What?! That's cheating!" Goku shouted. "If that's the case, then I've got to figure out how to do it too! I can't let Vegeta get ahead of me again!"
"Hmph," Vegeta snorted proudly. "Don't even bother, Kakarot. You always lose control when you become an Oozaru. If you tried it now, you'd probably rampage and blow up Earth before anyone could stop you."
"Ah! You're right!" Goku said nervously, scratching his head. "When I turned into a Great Ape as a kid, I couldn't remember anything afterward… I'd better not risk it."
Lin Hao smiled slightly. "Actually, it's not impossible for you to regain your sanity. When you're on the verge of losing control, if someone close to you say, Gohan—manages to reach your heart, they can bring you back to your senses. Once you stabilize your mind, you can refine the form into Super Saiyan Four."

But far away in the quiet, drifting stillness of Beerus's Planet—the ground trembled faintly. A low growl rumbled through the air.
"Mmgh…"
Beerus, the God of Destruction, stirred in his sleep. His long ears twitched as his tail flicked once. "Whis… what's this pressure I feel…? Who's releasing such ridiculous energy in my universe?"
Whis blinked, setting down his cup of tea. "Oh dear," he whispered, glancing toward the staff's glowing image. "It seems Lord Beerus has begun to sense Lin Hao's ki."
Cracks of purple energy rippled across the surface of Beerus's world as his eyes opened slowly, revealing their sharp, golden glow.
"Interesting," Beerus muttered, rising from his throne. "To think a Saiyan's power could reach me even in my dreams… Whis, prepare something sweet. I have a feeling I'll be paying this Lin Hao a visit."
Whis sighed softly. "It appears peace in Universe 7 never lasts long…"
Just like that, after Lin Hao revealed that the Saiyan transformation could evolve even further beyond Super Saiyan Three, both Son Goku and Vegeta made up their minds to return to Earth. Their goal was clear: to raise their strength to its absolute peak so they could break through to the legendary state of Super Saiyan Four.
But before they could do that, there was one more thing they needed their tails. Under Lin Hao's guidance, the two Saiyans decided to gather the Dragon Balls and make a wish to Shenron to restore their tails, the source of the Great Ape transformation that was key to unlocking the Super Saiyan Four form.

The Flow of Time
Three years passed in the blink of an eye.
During these three years, both Vegeta and Son Goku successfully achieved the transformation into Super Saiyan Four, the pinnacle of Saiyan evolution born from mastering the primal power of the Great Ape and fusing it with human consciousness.
Vegeta was the first to achieve the breakthrough. Because of his royal Saiyan lineage and his natural ability to retain consciousness even in his Great Ape form, he had no difficulty controlling his transformation. After turning into the Golden Great Ape, he swiftly refined his energy and consciousness, evolving into Super Saiyan Four with ease.
Confident in his new power, Vegeta immediately went to challenge Lin Hao. However, the result was humiliatingly one-sided. Lin Hao didn't even bother to transform in his base form, he effortlessly defeated Super Saiyan Four Vegeta.

Under this intense training, Goku and Vegeta's base combat powers continued to rise steadily. Their Super Saiyan Four forms soon reached the Full Power stage — but even then, when they fought Lin Hao, he crushed both of them with nothing more than Super Saiyan Two.

In the sacred dimension where the twelve Gods of Destruction resided, within a chamber surrounded by floating hourglasses, a slender, purple feline lay asleep on a golden bed. His rhythmic breathing echoed through the still air.
This was Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7.
Though he appeared lean and unassuming, Beerus's power was overwhelming. Among all twelve Destroyers, he ranked comfortably in the top three feared for his battle sense and sheer destructive might.
His strength came from years of training under Whis, his angelic attendant and mentor, who had taught him how to react instinctively in combat. Through this training, Beerus mastered a technique resembling Ultra Instinct an ability to move and fight without conscious thought—though his version remained imperfect, often called "Semi-Ultra Instinct."
Even so, Beerus could fight multiple Gods of Destruction at once and still hold the advantage. His unpredictable personality, however, made him infamous throughout the multiverse. While arrogant, short-tempered, and destructive, he wasn't inherently evil.
Beerus could be terrifying one moment and oddly endearing the next. He admired strength, relished worthy opponents, and above all, he loved delicious food — a trait that Whis often exploited to keep him calm.
But on this day, as an unfamiliar energy began to ripple through the universe Lin Hao's vast aura reaching even divine realms, Beerus's ear twitched. A frown formed on his face as he murmured in his sleep.
"Whis… what is this power…? It's… familiar, yet… different…"
The countdown to the God of Destruction's awakening had begun.
