c57 – Son Goku's Defeat
"Not bad, you can actually dodge my attacks. Then how about this one!"
After Lin Hao finished speaking, his body vanished in an instant, leaving behind only a ripple of ki. In the next moment, he reappeared right in front of Son Goku and threw a fierce punch toward his chest.
"Boom!!"
Their fists collided with a thunderous shockwave that tore through the ground of the Sacred World of the Kai. The entire realm trembled violently, and deep cracks snaked outward from the point of impact. The fissures spread for thousands of kilometers across the landscape, shaking even the floating continents nearby.
"It's too terrifying! Their power alone is warping the very fabric of the Supreme Kai's world!" Supreme Kai Shin exclaimed, clutching his head in disbelief.
Even though the Sacred World of the Kai was made of an incredibly dense material many times harder than Katchin, the hardest known metal in the universe, it still couldn't withstand the force of their clash. It was almost inconceivable that two beings could wield such power.
The Old Supreme Kai gave Shin a disgusted glare and snapped, "How did you ever become Supreme Kai with vision like that? The destructive power of that clash looked frightening, sure but you can't even sense that both of them are holding back! The energy from those blows canceled each other out by almost ninety-nine percent!"
He smacked Shin on the back of the head with a resounding thwack.
"Ah! Y-yes, ancestor! I understand!" Shin yelped, crouching down and covering his head.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
In the skies above, Lin Hao and Son Goku vanished and reappeared repeatedly, their movements faster than light. Their silhouettes flickered across the horizon, one golden and one blazing blue. Every collision created a shockwave that reshaped the terrain below.
Their speed and strength continued to climb. Even the Grand Supreme Kai himself would have struggled to track their movements with his divine eyes.
"Uhh!"
"Haah!"
Flash!
Disappear!
Flash!
Disappear!
The battle reached a fever pitch. Though Son Goku had already ascended into Super Saiyan Blue, Lin Hao was still suppressing much of his strength. Despite appearing evenly matched, everyone watching could feel the truth if Lin Hao exerted even a fraction more power, he could defeat Goku in an instant.
"It's over… my Sacred World of the Kai!" Shin cried, nearly in tears as he looked upon the countless craters and ravaged mountain ranges that had once been his serene domain.
The Old Kai sighed deeply. Though he kept a straight face, his heart felt as if it were bleeding. To think that just as he was released from the Z Sword not long ago, his home would be obliterated by two Saiyans brawling like children.
Shin hung his head in shame. As a Supreme Kai, he could create planets and oversee galaxies yet here he was, powerless before two mortals whose energy could rival that of Gods of Destruction.
Meanwhile, far away on Earth, the Z Fighters suddenly felt two monstrous ki signatures erupting across the void of space.
"This energy... it's Goku's and Lin Hao's!" Piccolo said, narrowing his eyes. Even from such an impossible distance, the pressure from their power reached Earth like an incoming storm.
Krillin wiped the sweat from his forehead. "To feel their ki all the way from the Supreme Kai Realm… that's insane. Just how strong have those two gotten!?"
"Bang!!"
Once again, the two titans clashed. A blinding light burst outward, and their figures one wreathed in divine blue flame, the other in a swirling aura of red-gold energy were blasted apart, retreating thousands of meters through the sky.
"What a fight!" Goku laughed, panting but exhilarated. "Lin Hao, you're amazing! I can barely keep up with your movements now. Just how much stronger can you get?"
From the start of their battle, Goku had noticed Lin Hao's ki continuously rising. At first, they had been evenly matched, their punches and kicks colliding in perfect sync. But now, even in his Super Saiyan Blue form, Goku was starting to fall behind his blows being deflected effortlessly, his movements a step too slow.
"For you, my current strength may seem overwhelming, but to me, it's still far from enough. The universe is vast, and there are countless warriors far beyond us."
"...?"
Son Goku tilted his head, blinking in confusion. He understood the first part, but what did Lin Hao mean by "far beyond us"?
"Come on!" Lin Hao shouted suddenly. "Stop thinking about it and keep fighting!"
The golden aura around Lin Hao flared once again, burning brighter and hotter. Arcs of divine lightning crackled through the air, the sheer pressure splitting the clouds across the Sacred World of the Kai.
Seeing this, Son Goku's fighting spirit ignited as well. His blue hair shimmered, his golden flames and silver-white lightning bursting outward as he powered up into Super Saiyan Blue, his aura vibrating the space around them.
The two clashed again, their movements faster than sound no, faster than light. Every time they collided, the sky split open, and the ground below caved under the weight of their ki. From afar, it looked like two blazing stars colliding in the heavens, golden and azure, locked in a fierce struggle.
At first glance, they seemed evenly matched. But on closer inspection, Goku was being completely overpowered. Lin Hao's blows were sharper, his movements cleaner, and his aura far denser.
"Lin Hao! Take this!"
Goku lunged forward, his fist glowing with concentrated divine ki. He aimed a full-force punch at Lin Hao's abdomen faster than the eye could follow.
"Boom!!"
But Lin Hao caught it effortlessly, his palm intercepting Goku's strike as if it were nothing.
Before Goku could react, Lin Hao spun and swept his leg across Goku's ribs. The impact sent Goku crashing backward, skidding through the air. Lin Hao then vanished and reappeared behind him, his right hand pressing firmly on Goku's shoulder.
A shockwave of energy pulsed out.
"Whoa!!"
In an instant, Goku's blue aura flickered and vanished, his body reverting to base form. His hair returned to black, his power completely drained.
"Boom!"
Goku hit the ground hard, the grass and dirt bursting beneath him. Lin Hao descended slowly, his own aura fading back to normal.
"It seems," Lin Hao said calmly, "that I've won."
Goku laughed breathlessly, rubbing his shoulder. "Yeah, you won. I gave it my all, but I couldn't even force you to go all-out. Guess I've still got a long way to go!"
He hadn't expected to lose so decisively. Judging by the feeling in that last exchange, Lin Hao's strength was on an entirely different level.
"Dad! Are you okay?"
Son Gohan and Vegeta landed nearby, their faces tense.
"I'm fine," Goku said, smiling weakly. "Just used up all my energy."
"Hmph," Vegeta snorted, folding his arms. "Kakarot, to think you'd lose that easily."
"Yeah," Goku chuckled, scratching his head. "Lin Hao's power is unreal. I don't think he even used ten percent of it. You saw it too, right? Even my Super Saiyan Blue couldn't keep up with his Super Saiyan form!"
Vegeta's expression darkened. He didn't want to admit it, but Goku was right. Lin Hao had stayed in his base Super Saiyan the entire time, yet completely crushed Goku's Blue form.
If that was just his first transformation, then how strong would Lin Hao be if he went beyond?
"Hey, Lin Hao," Vegeta said, his eyes narrowing. "You should be able to go higher, right? Super Saiyan Two, at least. Show us what you've really got!"
"That's right!" Goku added eagerly. "Your power in base Super Saiyan is already insane. Your next level must be off the charts!"
Lin Hao hesitated, looking at the hopeful faces of Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. He hadn't planned to reveal more of his power… but their curiosity was contagious.
Finally, he exhaled and smiled faintly.
"Alright then," he said. "Since you want to see it let me show you my strongest state."
