Chapter 5: Practice Rounds?

The atmosphere in the training arena was charged with anticipation as Budōmasutā, the authoritative yet composed instructor, addressed the students. With an air of calmness, he congratulated Kurokami on her performance, saying, "Nice work, Kurokami. You may return to your seat now." His voice was steady and reassuring, embodying the confidence of someone who had witnessed countless challenges unfold before him.

Kurokami, a determined and skilled student, smiled slightly at the praise, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. She gracefully made her way back to her designated spot among her peers, the excitement of the training session still buzzing in the air around her.

With a casual demeanor, Budōmasutā turned his attention to the next match, announcing, "Next up, we have Kiro versus Kajune." The crowd hushed in anticipation, eager to see who would emerge victorious from this duel.

As Kajune strode confidently towards the training ground, his striking appearance caught the eye of everyone present. His vibrant green hair fluttered in the gentle breeze, and his piercing red eyes sparkled with determination. Draped over his athletic frame was a distinctive red coat that billowed dramatically with each step he took, adding to his already formidable presence. As he faced Kiro, he smirked and remarked, "So, you're the new student, huh? I've heard a lot about you."

Kiro, maintaining his composure in the face of Kajune's bravado, replied coolly, "What's it to you?" The tension in the air was palpable, the other students watching with bated breath.

"Begin!" Budōmasutā declared, his voice echoing throughout the arena, signaling the start of the match.

Kajune wasted no time in making his move. "Well, it's nice to meet you-goodnight!" He launched a swift front kick aimed at Kiro's midsection. Kiro managed to barely block the incoming strike, feeling the power behind Kajune's speed. "You're fast, I'll give you that," he acknowledged, respect creeping into his tone.

Budōmasutā assessed the match with a keen eye, stating casually, "Kick has been blocked. Kiro is still in this."

Kajune's grin widened, clearly enjoying the challenge. "There's more where that came from," he taunted, quickly maneuvering to deliver another well-aimed front kick from behind.

Inwardly, Kiro was taken aback by Kajune's swiftness. He thought, How fast is this guy? He instinctively placed his hands behind his back once more, managing to block the attack again.

"Looks like you can't dodge forever," Kajune teased, seizing the opportunity to unleash a rapid-fire barrage of front kicks towards Kiro. Each kick flew toward him with precision, but Kiro deflected them with impressive agility, maintaining his calm demeanor. "You're tough, I'll give you that," he replied casually, his focus unwavering.

Kajune's grin turned predatory as he declared, "Enough chit-chat. Let's just end this already." With determination, he took up a front kick stance, charging directly at Kiro.

Finally feeling the thrill of the fight, Kiro mirrored Kajune's stance, a fierce resolve in his eyes. "I was waiting for you to say that," he said, surging forward to meet him.

As their front kicks clashed, the impact sent shockwaves through the arena. The two students engaged in an intense struggle, their legs colliding in a dazzling display of strength and skill, neither willing to yield an inch.

"Don't underestimate me!" Kiro exclaimed with confidence. In a split second decision, he slid low deftly between Kajune's legs and executed a devastating front kick aimed squarely at his back. The force of the kick sent Kajune hurtling into the nearby wall, where he slumped down, unconscious.

Budōmasutā watched the scene unfold with a look of approval on his face. "Impressive," he declared, raising his voice so the entire arena could hear. "Kajune has been knocked out Kiro wins!"

A grin blossomed on Budōmasutā's face as he added, "Kiro, you may return to your seat." Kiro, still catching his breath from the intense encounter, walked back to his spot with a sense of pride swelling in his chest.

As he settled back into his seat, a storm of thoughts raced through his mind. For a brief moment, I really thought I was going to lose, he reflected, grateful for his quick thinking and reflexes that had ultimately led him to victory. The thrill of the match and the support of his peers filled him with a renewed sense of confidence for the challenges that lay ahead.
