Chapter 41 - Chapter 41 Night Visit to the Pier

Chapter 41 Night Visit to the Pier

After finishing their work lunch and resting for a while at the company, Luze and Klein, who had just returned from the Divination Club, went to the home of their combat instructor, Gawain, to continue their combat training. They didn't stop until the afternoon was winding down. After changing out of their training knight uniforms and showering, they said goodbye to Gawain, left the house, and took a public carriage back to Daffodil Street.

Throughout the entire process, Klein would occasionally cast his gaze on Luze, as if observing him.

He must be wondering how the potion is going.

Lu Ze guessed confidently.

Luze then met Klein's gaze and smiled slightly:

"Klein, the method you mentioned is really effective. I feel like the effect of the potion is much smaller now!"

"Ah? Ahem. It works, as long as it works."

Klein coughed and said seriously, "Then I feel this method can be further promoted. Once you and I have fully mastered the potion, we will share it with other members."

The two chatted for a few minutes and then parted ways in front of their homes.

"Cecilia, how long has the lamb been cooking?"

As soon as Lu Ze opened the door, he raised his voice and asked inside, saying something to his sister with a smile.

——Could he really be the divine favored one of the true Creator?

Klein stood at his door, looking at Luze's back, thinking strangely. He hated the Aurora Society so much, personally killed three cultists, and stopped several evil god rituals. Such a blasphemous god-favored person couldn't possibly exist, right?

Shaking his head with mixed emotions, Klein closed the door.

The translucent mutton and radish cubes were immersed in the milky white broth. As the soup gurgled, the tender mutton began to tremble and shake. The kitchen was filled with a delicious aroma and a faint smell of mutton, refreshing the heart.

Good lamb doesn't need much seasoning; just a few spices to remove the fishy smell bring out the meat's natural sweetness. Seeing the meat almost done, Lu Ze turned off the heat, sprinkled in fine salt, and stirred evenly. Don't add salt too early when cooking lamb, or the meat will become tough. After a few minutes, he removed the lamb and radish cubes from the broth, placed them in a bowl, and garnished them with emerald green basil leaves.

Sprinkle pepper on the mutton, pick up the mutton and take a bite. It is tender and chewy. The fresh taste and aroma of meat fill the nose and mouth. Then take a sip of the hot broth. Wow, the two brothers and sisters of Londor are eating so much that they can't even lift their heads.

"Cecilia, I just discovered a serious problem."

"What's the problem, brother?"

"That's it, um."

Lu Ze drank a mouthful of soup and said a little guiltily, "I just remembered that I should prepare a dress for you to go to the theater."

Cecilia gave him a surprised look.

"Lu Ze, you actually discovered something like this? No, it was some attentive lady who reminded you of this, right?"

"Sister, do you have so little confidence in your brother? Well, this time it was indeed someone else who told me."

Lu Ze raised his voice a few notches, then quickly lowered it again. "Anyway, the theater performance is at night, so let's go out during the day and buy a ready-made set on the street."

"If you buy ready-made clothes, the price will be much higher, right? Even though you have a high weekly salary, you can't spend it so recklessly." Cecilia said, "Brother, I don't really care about that. As long as you can accompany me, we don't have to go to the theater, we can go anywhere."

Sister, why don't you talk like my sister? Instead, you talk like my mother.

Lu Ze blinked and then laughed.

"That won't work. Everyone else has it, so how can my sister not have it? Don't worry, the money will be there soon."

Boom boom boom!

As he was speaking, there was a knock on the door and Leonard came to pick him up.

"Who is it?"

Cecilia asked.

"The one who came to give you the money for the skirt."

Lu Ze smiled and stood up.

After telling his good sister to be careful at home, Lu Ze got into the carriage with Leonard behind the door.

As soon as he sat down, he suddenly became concerned about his sister's safety. Such a beautiful girl, what if someone had bad intentions? It seemed he would have to teach her close combat techniques, at least to help her defend herself.

Thinking this way, he rarely communicated with Leonard along the way, and quietly let the carriage take them to the dock area on the outskirts of the city.

Tingen City boasts a strategic location, with two major rivers: the Hoy and the Tussock. The Hoy joins the Tussock just outside the city, flowing directly to the capital, Backlund. Numerous passenger and cargo ships ply the rivers, docking at the docks.

Thanks to the handling of these ships, the dock area developed rapidly, with trading posts, warehouses, and slums connected together. Stevedores, beggars, street girls and all kinds of people gathered here, mixed together in a complex manner, making this the most chaotic area in Tingen City.

Evening has arrived and the dock area is still bustling.

Dock workers returning from work drank cheap liquor in the tavern, while those who had earned more went to chat with the girls. Beggars huddled in corners to avoid the wind, and shirtless children sucked their fingers, watching the lively scene under the lights with wide eyes.

In the river bend behind them, the ships were silent in the darkness, like man-eating beasts floating on the water and drifting back and forth.

Lu Ze and Leonard walked across the muddy ground and arrived at the transportation company where Mr. Pound worked. William Transportation Company mainly undertakes cargo transportation on the Tussock River. The company has a total of five cargo ships and is said to be very profitable.

"The names of those who sleep forever are engraved in the sunset glow,"

"There is one, awakened by your night."

The guards at the door were no match for Leonard. He just recited a few lines of poetry from a distance, and these poor guys immediately closed their eyes and fell down.

"Now that I'm reciting poetry at night, I'm a true midnight poet, right, Mr. Mysterious Man?"

He said to Lu Ze with a smile.

Is this a hint that I should play the role of a lawyer?

One or two, everyone knows these secrets

Lu Ze just nodded, pretending not to understand at all and said, "You're right."

Leonard's face fell a little when he heard this, but he quickly cheered up and swaggered into the company building with Lu Ze.

The orange gas lanterns illuminated the corridor. They followed the signs and searched floor by floor. Soon they found the manager's office, but the door was locked. Just as Lu Ze was thinking about how to unlock it, he saw Leonard take out two pieces of wire from his pocket, insert them into the keyhole, and with a "click", he had already opened the door neatly.

"I learned it from the thieves in the police station."

Leonard put away the two pieces of wire and smiled a little proudly.

There's no need to be proud of it.

Lu Ze followed behind him. The moment the door was pushed open, there seemed to be a thin white thread across the front of Leonard, which was illuminated by the lantern. He did not notice it and stepped forward, so the thread was broken.

Probably a spider silk thread.

Lu Ze thought to himself, seeing that Leonard had already gone in, he didn't bother to remind him and followed him into the office.
