Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Boss Battle!

Half a minute later.

"Bang! Bang!"

Three fish-men, upon reaching the exit, found it already occupied, and so they retreated in terror.

But now, there was no chance to escape.

After a few shots, with multiple bullet wounds, they could no longer flee, and what awaited them was Kazuma's merciless finishing blows after he jumped into the water.

The two decided to wait for a while along the way. Keli would guard the exit alone, allowing Kazuma to search along the stream with his powerful flashlight.

However, neither of them noticed that Kazuma's phone, which he had thrown, was flashing. Checking the screen, it was a call from the contact person they had previously communicated with, but both of them had silenced their phones and turned off vibrations for their infiltration.

Ten minutes later, Keli, looking at the chunks of flesh that once again regenerated beside him, felt a bit overwhelmed.

But this time, he finally had time to chat with his new teammate.

"Ah ah!"

With a scream, Kirito opened his eyes in the cold stream water.

Even though he had experienced it twice already, the feeling before death still sent shivers down his spine.

Keli looked at the person formed from the chunks of flesh, feeling a headache.

Why was everyone's resurrection different? Keli mentally calculated the time.

Kirigaya Kazuto's resurrection speed was actually faster than Kazuma's, significantly faster. In about 50 seconds, the chunks of flesh reassembled into a person.

But there was one problem: his corpse appeared directly beside him.

Just like when characters in some games are revived by passive triggers, he could still be attacked.

If he were truly a combat-capable teammate, everyone might even need to guard his corpse.

It could only be said that his resurrection method had both pros and cons compared to Kazuma's.

Kirito looked left and right, splashing his way to the shore. Just as he was about to determine his direction and go search again, he heard a cough.

"Cough cough!"

He turned his head and saw Keli, with his head above the water, gripping the exit gate tightly.

He had vaguely heard voices the previous two times, but there was no one around when he revived. This time, there was someone.

"That… that…"

Kirito didn't quite know how to start, scratching his head.

But he immediately remembered that the monster was still in the resort, and he felt anxious.

He remembered Keli's appearance; he should be the one who had displayed great power and fought the monster earlier. He just didn't know why he was now clinging here like Spider-Man.

"Excuse me, what are you doing?"

"I'm imitating Tokyoites from the last century."

"Uh…"

Keli's answer left Kirito somewhat confused.

"A quarter of Tokyo was covered by American incendiary bombs last century. I heard that Tokyoites jumped into the rivers to survive back then, but in some places, the water was so hot it boiled. It even seemed to give birth to a dish called Oden or something…"

Hearing Keli's words, Kirito's face twitched.

His thoughts immediately became a jumble.

"Excuse me, are you going to kill those monsters? Can you come with me over there? There's still one over there."

Kirito tentatively asked, sounding a bit unsure.

He wasn't very sure what the person in front of him was doing, as he didn't know that he had revived next to Keli both previous times.

But he saw Keli seemed to be fighting the fish-men, so he decided to invite him along if possible.

At least one thing about Kirito was better than ordinary people: when faced with an unsolvable problem, normal people would seek others to solve it, but he, regardless of whether he could solve it, would first consider facing it himself.

Even with the monster that had killed him twice, he was still thinking if he could find something to defeat it.

However, Keli, hearing the keywords in his speech, frowned.

There was still one? So how to choose between here and there?

So he thought for a moment and opened the group chat in his mind.

[Keli: It seems there's still a monster in the resort. How are things on your end?]

[Sato Kazuma: There shouldn't be any. The resort is only this big. I've even checked under the bridge.]

It wasn't that the two of them were being overly cautious. If they messed up and let one escape, they felt that if they couldn't solve it kindly and it ran off to inform the underwater city, then the fish-men might decide to strike first, and it wouldn't be good if a tidal wave came crashing down before they could deal with the Japanese civil servants.

Thankfully, the Deep Ones were a proud race. Besides the supreme mission of resurrecting a certain octopus-headed entity, they usually had no social needs. They wouldn't coordinate actions unless it involved establishing a cult or a plan that would help Cthulhu win his resurrection match.

Of course, they also had to be grateful that the marine overlord in the fish-men's mouths was mostly dagon, not God King Tang.

[Sato Kazuma: Wait for me, I'm coming here to guard.]

[Keli: Okay.]

"Wait, you're Keli? I'm Kirigaya Kazuto."

Kirito also saw the chat interface in front of him, so he asked in reality.

After getting Keli's affirmative answer, he really wanted to ask about the current situation.

But soon, Kazuma arrived here on his motorcycle.

"I'll leave it to you. Ah, it's that damn normie."

Kazuma understood what was going on the moment he saw the situation.

He pulled out his small scythe, jumped into the water, and took Keli's place.

He pulled out his pistol and some bullets from his pocket for Keli, while Keli threw his water-soaked pistol to Kirito.

"Can you use it?"

"Uh… yes."

Kirito, somewhat unaccustomed to their decisive actions, took the gun and bullets in a daze.

"Let's go."

Keli straddled the motorcycle, patted the back seat, and then pointed to the spear on the ground.

"I'm still waiting for you to lead the way. Hold this for me."

"Here he comes."

Kirito also felt the urgency of the situation. Disregarding his clothes, which were already like rags, he picked up his spear and mounted Keli's motorcycle.

"Vroom!"

Keli twisted the throttle and headed towards the place where Kirito had last seen the monster.

A few minutes later, Keli saw the monster Kirito had spoken of.

It was a handsome man, holding a Sharkspear in his hand, with distinct fin-like features near his ears.

Beside the man lay a pile of bodyguard corpses, and Nekiri Senzaemon, gasping for breath, lay collapsed at the entrance of a hall that was burning with a few flames.

"The Demon King of Cuisine, in the end, is just an ordinary person who will die if you cut him with a knife.

Well. It's just that I've been an ordinary person for too long. Isn't what I'm doing now more efficient?

For you humans, we desired peace, exchanging ancient techniques with you, but what did we get in return?"

The man heard the hum of the motorcycle and turned his head slightly, but still used the side of his Sharkspear to tap the old man's face on the ground, carving another scar onto his face under the old man's stern gaze, muttering to himself.

"Here you are, the guy who I killed twice, and whose body disappeared each time. Hmm, and there's another one, Shimura Danzo… Heh heh, have these people not watched Naruto?

But judging by your expressions, you probably don't know yet, do you? We are here to help you humans avoid war, so…"

The frivolous tone continued speaking.

"No, we know. We will also resolve those matters."

Keli cut his palm with a dagger, letting blood drip onto his pistol magazine.
